Would a JD with a Tax LLM have any chance of moving into Big Law after spending a few years doing M&A work for the Big4? If so how much experience so law firms usually want to see? JD and LLM are not from a top law school.

I know I'm not a recruiter. It's hard though. I've done 2 years in big 4 in Intl Tax transaction work and cannot break the door down yet.

I wish you great luck, you're not alone.

I'm in my second year and started looking this summer -- got a couple V100/V50 interviews this month

A path I see more often is Big4, midsize firm and then biglaw. It just can take a bit longer to get your foot in the door.
