Hi Folks,
My wife has 5 years of experience in Banking Industry now she want to switch her career in IT, she has worked as coding instructor for html/css/js/react native, she has React certification as well. Now she is ready to take interviews.
Now how to convey this to recruiters and are they ok to take interview for frontend developer, how much experience can be considered and what salary can be expected?
Anyone get GSAP then pivot to MBB post-MBA?

Think going to IB now will provide a good signal of your long-term goals to the adcom. While you will have to explain your transition from consulting to IB now, at least your goals after the MBA make sense. The next question to answer will be “Why MBA” if you’re already at an IB firm, where you can say you want to transition to a bulge bracket, etc.
Make the switch now. It’ll give you some sense of the job and I don’t think it’ll hurt your chances much. And why choose to be unhappy for another year or two. Live in the moment
And make sure you get stellar recs
And yes. It will be a big differentiator that you have IB experience when you recruit for IB. You will only be in semester 1 or 2 so they rely heavily on previous experience. Not every 1st year at any given school is equal at every given industry
at an elite MBA. I have a 740 GMAT and a 3.8 GPA from a top 15 school as a BBA. Is it better to completely rebrand at an MBA program or get some low-middle market IB experience and leverage an MBA to gain access to more prestigious firms?
In terms of an MBA application, I worry I will have a better shot at the top MBA programs with 4 years at EY with continuous progression vs going back to an analyst at a boutique IB and just making associate before applying. Not sure how MBA admissions view pre-MBA career changers since I know they look for continuous progression. However, exit ops to BB firms from a little lesser MBA program may be better if I already have IB experience (even at a small firm) and have indicated my interest. Thank you to all for the genuine advice and not trolling - very confused 24 year old who is not happy with being a consultant long term
I would say switch now. You already have EY on your resume. Also, it’s only big 4, it’s not like MBB. I don’t think the boutique IB will look like a step down. Agree with pwc1 that it is good signaling, and you’re trying before you buy
