Honestly, all other things equal, I would prefer B4 to IBM any day in vast majority of the situations and especially at SM level. They ain’t as nice and tolerant as B4 is, so I think you might be in for a rude awakening.
Also, 20% is just the cost of switching. I’m not sure I’d move anywhere for just that if everything else is comparable.
I think it matters which group you work for. I just interviewed with a few people for an Associate Partner role in their new Enterprise Strategy group....many of the people came in from outside IBM (Deloitte, Accenture Strategy, BCG) so I would imagine the culture would be a bit different.
We've had a few that made this transition and are pretty happy but 2 differences 1)A and IBM are more alike culturally than B4s given we're public and 2)every one of the ones who left got more than a 50% bump so the oppty cost of staying was huge
What is the yearly sales quota for IBM associate partner? And is the path to partnership sales target based or duration at the firm? Any insights thank you in advance.
I worked for 4 years at IBM before moving to EY, for a good position and increased salary I would move back in a heart beat, culture is better, there is more sense of team work and friendship. If those juniors are arrogant is probably cause they are proud of the place they come from (I felt like that, and people also thought I was arrogant)
I agree, IBM is notorious for changing territories, quotas, targets, mostly not in your favor. You have a great year, they double your target, then the next year, you have trouble because you get switched to a bad territory, but keep the big quota. Then you are gone. If you are diversity, you stay on forever. It’s old white male season at IBM.
I would need much more than that, like 50% - you will be starting from scratch unless you have lots of solid client relationships. You also dont get the ull through Advisory and Tax opptys
