I'm way to skinny and way too white-bread to survive that
Broadway between 135th and 150th is very nice, lots of new restaurants and quite gentrified. I live there and pay $1300 for the master br in a 2bd, 2 bath in a <10 yr old bldg, w/ balcony, open layout kitchen and living room, finished roof with a garden, laundry in building, small gym, and backyard garden. My room fits a queen, desk, bedside table, two dressers, another table for random shit, and a cubby thing from IKEA. 35 mins to midtown during morning commute. Wouldn't live anywhere else in the city tbh

I was dating someone for a bit that lived up there. Would not want to live there
Go for it. I'd much rather Have a Fuck Off pad in a 2nd tier location than a studio in soho
Harlem is not the old stereotype..125th is pretty gentrified and really quite surprised to see the level of ignorance on this thread...also the divisions on this society...
^^also you can live three avenues east of bway in a reno'd amenity light pre war 4 bed 2 bath for $600 a month if you really like spending money on the weekends. Safe neighborhood, 45-50min to midtown in the morning 25 in the car home. Bedrooms big enough for queen, couch, tv, etc. I have a friend that lives in an apt like that, pays $600 all in inc. utilities, ~$40 a month for wash and fold laundry from a place next to his apt. Lives like a king on weekends, and it's not like he does anything at his apt during the week as an analyst
