Sure, I will! The next time when you jump to the third firm, you salary base is already high. Usually the new company determine the experience hire salary based on their previous salary.

Depends on your level. Even if you are only there for a bit to make the money, you can always go back to another big4 eventually.

Two things I’d consider: 1) Am I confident in my ability to get back into a stable jon if the new job doesn’t work out 2) Am I financially able to forgo several months pay if the new job is way more unstable than anticipated

Are you concerned about small firm culture in general or that particular firm’s culture? If the former, I don’t think you need to worry. My best experience was with a small firm. If the latter, yeah I wouldn’t take that job. If you haven’t even started working there and you’re having doubts about that firm’s culture, that’s a red flag.

50% is enough to make me go, assuming equal PTO.

Why is it unstable? If unstable like taking a risk for a startup, I’d probably do it for the right team. If unstable as in there are lots of turnovers, then no because I would never work at a place where culture sucks again by choice.

Unstable because much smaller firm culture may not be great

Could be worth the risk. Depends on what you’re looking for. If you don’t end up thinking it’s a good fit, you can always leave

K1 is 100% right plus that title is what will get you to move laterally (if the job doesn’t work out) and you’ll start at a new salary point for negotiations. If you don’t have pressing financial obligations, I’d say go for it!

Is it common for firms to do a mid year ‘market adjustment’ that basically makes it where they’re paying you the same as what industry pays? I’m a first year manager going into my second year and just got a 10% bump that essentially makes the 20% raise on departure to industry impossible. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is networking still key as an experienced hire? Networking was really helpful when I was applying to consulting as a student, because of the clear recruitment cycle most firms followed. Now that I’m looking to switch to industry, I’m looking at specific roles / depts at specific companies. Companies often seem to want to fill these roles quickly so no time to network, and on networking calls people can’t help as much if you are targeting a specific dept. any thoughts?
