My copy manager recently gave 2 wks notice and since then I've taken on that role in addition to mine for about a month (telling our EVP I would like to move into the position). My most recent chat w said EVP has made it clear I'm not considered a viable candidate. My question: once I state I will cover the additional tasks for an another week and no more, can the corporate overlords press me to continue in both roles or am I within my rights to refuse? If I was a junior on a team during a campaign launch, is that something I can put in my book? Other than trial and error and general experience, what have been your best resources for learning about industry rules and regulations and advising clients when they make requests outside of that?
All my clients have regulatory and legal experts in house, but I find that sometimes hierarchical politics and upper management can stop them from fully embracing that role. After watching the parts of Dopesick relating to the ad agency, I feel like it wouldn’t hurt to brush up on my knowledge… TIA!
