Depends on what you’re looking for to be totally honesty. Coming in as a manager at a T2 might be very challenging as well and if you don’t perform quickly for any reason you might not be there too long. Could also be you’re great at it and you’re sorted but then would you feel like you missed MBB? On the other hand; MBB you get a little runway to get groomed for M and then you’ll be well established to grow. Worst case it doesn’t work out and you’ll have the MBB branding to help you go wherever you want. Another factor is the leveling in terms of how far you are to the M title. Final factor is the T2 a real M role or they just using that to get you a higher comp and lure you in?
T2 M 100%. You can try to leverage to see if MBB might bring you in one level up but unlikely. If you only plan to stay in consulting for a brief period, take MBB since the name on your resume is gold, but if you want to stay in consulting, it’s worth taking the M position. If you kick ass you can always lateral to MBB later at a higher level…

Even to leave consulting, a more senior role at t2 is probably better.

What? You’d be crazy to take the MBB entry level offer if you have a manager position at an actual T2 lined up. Even B4 manager would be in contention vs MBB entry level, unless you really value the clout.
And at double the salary for T2

I had this option between BCG and S&. It’s a no-brainer.
I took the MBB option here.
What are people finding aggressive? The tone?
MBB exit opps are overrated (ex-MBB here). Definitely not worth a 100% salary reduction vs the T2 role and the potential for getting under leveled since you may not have as many YOE managing teams
But if you're looking to stay until MD/Partner, MBB may be a bit faster and pay more at the top. Not sure if it's worth the oppty cost over the next few yrs though
Ahh technically 50% salary reduction not 100%… but that’s alright… <sad math noises>
Why did they offer you an entry level position in the first place if you are qualified to be an M?
Aka, they don’t see traits of a Manager in them.
What’s the comp like? If comp is similar I’d go the more junior route. With experience you’d theoretically climb the ladder fairly fast and continue to raise comp
Take the T2 and run!

You guys simp so hard for MBB. Nobody outside the consulting bubble cares ffs!
Negotiate that shit
At 5 YOE, you should be looking at consultant (bcg speak) level minimum, whicc is out Adc/ post mba level
most junior level as in BA? yeah no brainer
What is T2?
Chief
It’s the one where the Terminator is the good guy
T2 ftw buddy. Why are you even thinking about it
MBB honestly isn’t all that great once you been in it. I had two team members in the past go to McKinsey, both said the work is pretty much the same as Deloitte. Best part is they were not impressed by what company/school you went to after joining. My advice is follow the money and potential for long term wealth
Rising Star
I turned it down. Maybe I regret it.
