Dude, chill. Invite whomever you want to your wedding.

Lol I figured it was a ridiculous question. Just wanted to make sure

Genuinely curious as to what kind of wedding you're having that an ethics committee would be interested/involved.

Hopefully a normal one? Lol I figured I was way overthinking it, just wanted to make sure

Will they be billing the time?

It’s your wedding! You gotta control the guest list!

I am in private practice and I would not want to be invited to my client’s wedding. I won’t be able to enjoy myself because it’s still “business” in my mind.

Anyone transition from law firm litigation to in-house commercial counsel? If so, was it a tough transition? Overall a good move to make?

I entered law school in my late 30's as a second career. I have strong pre-law experience (Executive of small company, 60 employees, $4m budget, MBA, etc.) and law school credentials (Top 10%, Managing Editor of Law Review). I'm willing to make less coming out of school than I did before, but want to ultimately land as in-house counsel with a decent wlb and make $200k+. I'm looking for advice on the best path to get there and how long I can expect it to take.

Has anyone made the jump from in-house legal over to the business side? How did the transition go? Would you do over it again? I work in a niche area (workplace health and safety) and have gotten a promotion in place, but have maxed out my growth in the legal department if I want to stay in safety. Only way for me to be promoted and stay in safety is to jump to the business side but I’m hesitant to give up doing legal work.

One month in to my first in-house role. One foreign team seems determined to make me look bad, telling higher ups I told them something I didn’t, etc. I’ve tried to CYA by sending call notes/documenting advice, but they just claim I misunderstood and change the facts! I am in the final stages of interviewing at a company in a mid-size regional city in the southeast. I just found out they want to keep salary near $110k. I have 10 YOE and told them I’m targeting roles closer to $150k. I don’t know the full offering of benefits but assume it is bad (I know they have no current 401(k) match or paid parental leave, e.g.). Is there any way to negotiate this up or should I give up? $110 seems extremely lowball to me. That’s what first-years at big firms make here.
