Feeling helpless. Currently undergoing medical treatment in the USA - and I have no family or relatives here. The doctors and my therapist suggested asking one of my family members to accompany me here; and my fiancé applied for a tourist visa under medical grounds (and put in emergency request). He had proper paperwork and my medical reports as proof, yet his emergency request for a preponed appointment was denied. No reasons mentioned.

What to do next?

At what point should you be applying to other jobs when looking to advance in your career? I'm about to be 1 year with my company and my skills and experience match that of a company that would pay me 1.75x my current salary. The biggest thing that's stopping me would be dealing with insurance after leaving my job (both dental and medical are through my employer and my spouse is on it) and the fact that the job requirements say they would like 2+ years of experience while i have 1.
