Would love tips on successful breast feeding! I'm pregnant with #2 and want to try again. With my first I had issues with latching, clogged ducts and supply. We switched exclusively to formula at 2mo.

My doula said breastfeeding tends to be a little easier in subsequent pregnancies (and that did end up being true for me). Might be partially experience, but also milk comes in faster and it’s easier to get a good supply, all else being equal. I would be optimistic! Also review feeding positions, get a good boppy, and have your new breastpump or at least new parts set up.

This. My second go and around was easier (I had to EP with #1 after many issues), but I did struggle in the beginning with getting baby to latch properly. What worked was getting help from a lactation consultant early (literally day after I was discharged). but my supply was better this time round and the milk came in early.

Work with a lactation consultant so they can guide you and help troubleshoot any specific issues. For supply, drink TONS of liquids and eat lots of snacks and meals that are nutritious and help support your body’s demand for calories. For clogged ducts, it sucks but the best solution is to keep nursing and warm compress and a mild pain reliever like Advil.

Thank you ladies! I definitely feel more aware of the issues to look for this time. Fingers crossed it will work much better this time.

At the hospital, let baby stay latched for however long they want (may be 45 minutes!). This was my #1 mistake with #1 I think, trying to accommodate visitors etc.

I had a mantra the first couple months that I had one job - feed the baby.

I did other stuff of course, but it did help prioritize if things got difficult.

At the hospital have a nurse or lactation consultant come in every time you nurse! It’s free and they help you figure out tips and tricks. Our hospital had a lactation consultant available 24/7 and all the nurses were trained in breastfeeding.

Going back to work Jan 4 and my 3 month old won’t take a bottle. We’ve tried since she was 1.5 months and she just holds the bottle nipple in her mouth but she doesn’t suck.

For now, I’m ok with breastfeeding while working, but just in case with meetings and whatnot, it’d just be awesome if my husband could feed her.

Any advice? Is it possible to get baby on a feeding schedule that I could just put on my Google calendar as “pumping” time?

Can I change my insurance from HDHP to a premier plan once my baby is here?

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. Hello People,
Looking for advice based on experience. Currently living with in-laws that have come to support us with our first baby. My in-laws and I have had a rocky start to our relationship due to ours being an inter-religion marriage. Many things have been said that I’m neither able to forgive nor forget. I have a very kind husband who understands my sentiments but wants to try to have a cordial relationship with them now for the sake of our baby (and baby’s relationship with grandparents)

How much would a 30 day supply of Vyvanse (30mg) cost me after insurance? I know this is going to vary by plan but I'm still curious as to know how expensive of a medication this is.

My pharmacy informed me that the insurance will not cover without authorization from the psych. My psych was wary about this & instead suggested Ritalin during my session. He mentioned that insurance companies want us to first try Ritalin because they are generally cheaper. How much truth is there to this? Thanks!

Is anyone on a low dose of Adderall or a similar stimulant, and do you find it helpful/effective?

When I was diagnosed (at 20 yo) I started on Adderall XR and my psychiatrist essentially took a “keep upping the dose until you feel side effects” approach, even though I still saw some benefits at a lower dose. I’m currently unmedicated and am somewhat hesitant to restart, but feel I could see some benefit and better stability with the help of medication.
