Would taking a 1 year teaching gig at a highschool teaching business and entrepreneurship be a unique differentiator for MBA. Want to do VC and it feels like consulting is a dime a dozen these days

VC directly out of MBA is not realistic unless it's HSW

Not sure it’s even realistic from W

Might MBA programs see that as too obvious of ploy? You could try volunteering with an organization such as “Business Professionals of America”, where you give lectures to high school classes about the business world. You could also work part-time / internship at a startup.

smart

As a side gig, maybe? But if you're talking about high schoolers in your country, you're probably going to need to excuse yourself during the day regularly to make that happen. I don't know about EY, but that would be a problem at Deloitte. As a full time job, you have just added tens of thousands of dollars to the opportunity cost of getting the MBA.

like

Are 2 hours long, once a month classes for high schoolers a thing? If so, ya - you probably could. But I'd be kindof surprised if that's the case.

It depends on your story but the way you are describing it in your post sounds like admissions would see right through it

I don't think it would be a differentiator but it would be a good addition to your application. And also good to develop your own skills and you get to help kids and future generations. Do it for that not just to get a checkbox for MBA. Junior achievement is a good program that I'm aware of in NE (I assume they are across US though?) I think a differentiator would be to actually start a side business. Extra points if it failed and you pivoted and tried again... And failed again but kept learning.

That said I know many people specially do something to add to their app. The bonus is something good comes of it. I was in a program where we coached unemployed and underemployed individuals job coaching over 3 months or so period (resumes, dress, public speaking, elevator pitch, purpose/vision, networking, etc). In the the program almost 15 out of 20 people were applying to MBA the upcoming year.

Nope, top kids already do TFA which are also becoming a dime a dozen for MBA apps
