Would the next couple years be a bad time to get an MBA since we’re about to hit one of the worst recessions the US has ever seen?

I think it would be a great time to get it. World is on fire while you’re safe at school for a couple years, then you come back to the real world with a better economy. I think getting to M7 will get more competitive in the next 2 yrs though.

Recessions are great times to invest in yourself.

It depends on when you’re planning to get it. I think the economy will recover in 3-4 years assuming worst case scenario.

I was honestly planning to go back fall 2022 but now considering 2021. By the time you graduate, the economy will be back on track.

Depends when the economy recovers. but grad school is a safe place to be in a recession, and applications will only go up as people reevaluate the job market...

This is what I did in 2008. Worked out well.

Crisises have always inspired people to attend grad school. This population was toying with the idea even before the crisis... now they are laid off or the crisis makes them question the role of their position... why not attend grad school, right?

Crises is the plural form of crisis #grammarnazi

It'll buy you time, but it'll buy time for the other hundreds of thousands of people who do the same thing. Just ask anyone who went to law school in 2008 how much the glut of graduating lawyers affected their earning potential.

Yea, but that glut of lawyers existed long before the crisis. The legal market has had a supply side issue for almost two decades, and it continues to this day. I agree with the notion of what you are saying, but if OP has wanted to get an MBA before this economic crisis, they may as well do it while the economy is in the can. All that being said, MBAs are overrated IMHO.

The next couple years is a great time to get an MBA. No risk of layoff. And depending on what you do afterwards, you can possibly take credit for the post-recession growth. This can give your career a nice tailwind. Even if you don't take credit, you'll be a fresh face with growing exit opportunities.

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
