Personally, I think that if it takes putting in notice for someone to give an employee a raise, then that someone is an abusive asshole that exploits people and not only should you tell them that in response to their shit offer, you should tell everyone in the firm how much you did make and how much they offered you to stay, so that they can take action to stop being exploited.
Employers need to stop treating people like disposable cogs, the objective of which is to bleed all you can from them. And employees needs to stop letting them do it to them.
My friend did not accept even tho that counter offer seems better, but she was determined to go because she no longer trusted the partner she worked with.
It’s not worth accepting because why do they have to pay you the fair market value only when you are leaving. If they appreciated you, you would have been financially rewarded for all your hard work throughout the busy season!
This is exactly why my coworker did not accept even though the counter offer seemed better than the one outside the firm -- it's a trust issue.
I’ve accepted a counter in the past - I ended up leaving a year later.
Next job also gave me a counter offer - I outright declined that time
If I leave its going to be strictly for financial reasons, so yes would consider a counter offer. If youre leaving cause you hate the work dont
Thanks, certainly didn’t hate and in fact like the work. Primary motive was financial
Loved the work but wanted to leave Bc compensation and hours didn't fit with my family life. Accepted counter offer with lower hours and better pay- still here, and happy :)
I would love to work for your firm!!!
