I started a job last month that was a complete bait and switch (lied about my roll on the account, the staffing on the account, etc) and I’m miserable. I’m planning my exit strategy. How do I approach recruiters without seeming like a serial jumper?
Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?
Deducting S Corp owner health insurance when they aren't really an employee? Owner doesn't do anything for the business anymore, but still wants the health insurance. "Health and accident insurance premiums paid on behalf of a greater than 2-percent S corporation shareholder-employee are deductible by the S corporation and reportable as wages on the shareholder-employee’s Form W-2, subject to income tax withholding."
Got a job offer with SAP testing at EY— i know a lot of people hate on testing but i just really need to specialize in something to make and increase in salary and meet financial goals. Is SAP testing/ testing in general something that will continue to grow? Looking for honest career path feedback
I have been at my new role remote for 3 months now. Things are good but I always feel like I’m not doing enough even after doing all my work and asking for more at times. I have this anxiety I could get fired at any moment or my boss/team will think I’m not contributing enough. It’s harder being remote because I feel my boss and team can’t see me and we can’t build those connections in office. Why do I have this anxiety.
Anyone have any advice on trying to exit away from risk advisory? Specifically internal audit and sox. I’ve tried applying to Deloitte but they seem to only be interested for internal audit and sox work. I have 3 years of experience for reference and feel very stuck.
Thoughts on GLG? Offer in business development team. GLG not finance but need reach!! Got 24 hours to respond. I am a finance analyst but offered a job in the team and wondering how hard do they go in on sales? They said no financial targets until year 2 but I’m sceptical. I’ve never done sales before either and the job involves prospect and account mapping. I was offered the job due to my transferable skills. I will be in a small team of 4 but my role is the only business development position.
BDO folks: can anyone here confirm the salary range for a Manager in the Cyber practice? For Chicago
Is there a time when people generally “start” work remotely? Back when I was a summer before the pandemic, I commonly saw people go in between 9-10 am but I didn’t know what the norm is now that we are remote. I see emails at 8 am and I’m not sure if I’m expected to respond then or not. Also if you are on a deal where some of the members are in NY and you’re in the Midwest, are you expected to go by their times and be on when they are on?

Hi ladies- can you tell me what you pay in premiums for your healthcare? My employer is saying they’re competitive in the market but I don’t think that’s the case and I’d like to negotiate based on that. Monthly premium for you (and fam if@you have kids?)
Hi there! I’m being vetted for a position that I’d have to relocate for, they mentioned they’d pay for relocation. This would be my first role in senior leadership, and I’m just looking for tips on negotiating pay and other components of my offer letter. I’ve previously had an issue where I was brought in way under value, and it took 2 years to get a benchmarking raise. I just want to position myself highly upfront this time. Any ideas other than base pay I could and should negotiate? Thanks!
Currently an MBA Candidate at the University of Arizona looking into consultancy once I depart the Marine Corps. Is the MBA a must or a nice to have if looking for a Senior Consultant position with 15+ years of GPS experience?

Interviewing for MIT Sloan Fellows MBA (1 year program) shortly. 10YOE and joining MBB in a couple of months, post-MBA level role. Reading some previous FB posts disparaging the SF program and feeling a bit downhearted about it. Are Sloan Fellows really looked down on by the normal (2 year) Sloan MBA program? Are there better alternatives for a 1 year MBA? MIT has been a dream for a while but it’s kind of like being told your baby is ugly…
had a miscarriage (knew the gender and developed a connection) and trying to pull it together for my toddler. will start therapy but feeling so unstable. any tips to survive this? husband knows i’m sad but not as supportive as I want him to be.
I keep seeing those LinkedIn polls about how many people want to work from home permanently, and it makes me kinda sad. I know a lot of people really prefer working from home, but as a junior who only started working after the pandemic began, it feels so strange to not have an agency to go to. I know all my coworkers faces only from seeing them on Zoom, and only in the context of work-related conversations. I hope I’ll actually get the chance to experience normal agency culture.
What is it like to be a Product Manager at Deloitte? Is Career Development/Compensation aligned to consultant levels? Any UK specific insights?
Got dinged after a final round AC interview with Bain & Company as an experienced hire with 1 YOE. Currently at $75k base salary and on average work 30-40 hours a week. Considering $15-25k increase in salary, but double the number of work hours, is it worth reapplying to Bain next year for the prestige of the role/firm?
I’m not the heaviest I’ve ever been - I’ve lost some weight due to stress - but I’m easily in the worst shape of my life. I go for walks but it’s just not enough to combat the sedentary wfh lifestyle. Any advice on how to make more of an effort to at least try to do better? I have no equipment other than a yoga mat and can’t afford a peloton or anything. But I went to the office to pick some stuff up and took the stairs 3 floors up, and felt like I was going to die 😭 any advice appreciated!
Any Canadian citizens working in the US? Do you need a H1B or other special visa? What restrictions do Canadian citizens have for working in US in terms of the visa?
Sometimes I HATE ORD. Landed 15 min ago, been driving in circles ever since. No sign of gate
Any thoughts on praying in the office? I’m in the London office and because of some confident bothers, we were able to use conference rooms to pray. Now in my new firm, I’m the only Muslim and so when I do go in, find it hard to find a place. I don’t want to announce it and make a big deal, just want to pray quietly, otherwise I’d have to save my salah for home. WFH has changed this in such a good way but wanted to see if anyone has similar experience or tips?

Assuming you are smart enough to do both (I know big assumption), are you better off being a SWE/data scientist at FAANG or equivalent level at MBB (based on YOE) from a compensation:WLB ratio?
So I’m about to be let go because my project is ending in two weeks. I started looking for a jobs about 4 months ago. For many of the jobs, I was met with the salary range question during the recruiter interview. I didn’t give a range right away but I also wasn’t moving forward as gave recruiters resistance. After about a couple months, and no movement, I finally gave a range for a position and I moved forward to interview and ultimately job offer.…
I currently work in a HCOL (LA) and have decided that this summer I want to move to a MCOL (Chicago) that isn't an office location for my team. Am I right to wait until after YE comp discussions (end of Q1) before raising this with my company? We don't have published comp bands and I know there is some pay disparity between the two locations. I want to make sure I am getting what I deserve bonus/raise and then negotiate any pay difference after
My project is requiring a lot of time commitment during early hours and evening and it’s getting hard to pick up LO from day care. I wanted advise frm ppl who have hired help for pick/drop off.
What time of the day is best to call an investment banker to follow up with him on the results of your interview?
Got a verbal offer at a new firm yesterday afternoon. Got the offer letter this morning. They want a decision by Monday. That feels quick to me - but never been in this position. Is 2.5 business days normal to want a decision? Currently on vacation through Sunday in an RV with no wifi, which doesn’t help
I'd strongly prefer not to work with an Associate on their way off to b-school. Sick of the eye rolling and attitude.
I inherited a matter from an atty who left the firm and need to tell the client that everything he did on their matter was wrong. Anyone else have this happen?
Help bouncing back when you don’t get that in house job that felt like the perfect fit and strung you along for 2 interviews and almost 2 months? I am so miserable working at a law firm and I can’t seem to get out, even when I’m told my applications are great and the interviews seem to go well. I’m a sixth year associate so I have plenty of experience.
