No... wait longer to see how this unfolds. Let’s be sure there’s a solid resurge response plan. Think about it this way... when a client wants to rush creative development and a shoot to launch early, what do we always say? No. We always pushback bc we haven’t had time to think thru the idea, to make it better, to see how it scales... we don’t rush bc we don’t want our name attached to a hot mess.

Exactly this. We will be amongst the last to return to 2019 state. No company is going to immediately fly a bunch of consultants to their large corporate offices

I’m in. I love empty planes. Hoping they’ll do extra points or something to get me caught up on what I lost.

It’s not going to. I don’t care what Trump says, 80% of governors are going to tell him to pound sand, including Republican ones.

like

Is that with timelines aligned EY4? First cases in CA were in Jan/Feb.

smart

There’s still a massive shortage of PPE and no system in place to do large scale testing. Having extra ventilators is a reactive resort I’d rather not encounter.

like

We need vaccines

like

We need antibody tests. Can’t keep everything shut down until there’s a vaccine when that could be year(s) away

likesmart

If everything just opened up and the virus ripped through us all - you all do realize there still wouldn’t be enough ventilators right?

like

It’s life. Weigh the risks given your situation. I am not going to hide under my bed until 2022.

tldr Everyone still argues their side of the debate with cherry picked facts. You’re wrong no matter what you believe. Some think we should be back to normal tomorrow. Others say wait 18 months or longer until there is a vaccine. That help?

The economy won’t just suddenly reopen quickly anyway. What’s more likely is we’ll reopen things in phases based on local conditions, and probably with social distancing in place - meaning WFH where possible for many office-oriented jobs and people sitting farther apart who do go in. So even if your local office is open, your client’s somewhere else might not able to.

likesmart

Absolutely, yes! Unless you're 60+ so should you. How are "Consultants" this bad at statistical probability? Were you afraid to drive before Corona?

likefunny

Yep I would fly. Pretty sure I already had it.

like

Same, but there's no conclusive evidence yet whether or not that means you're immune to it. I'm taking mostly the same precaution as everyone else.

NEVER. And logically none of the clients are or should be in a dire need to have consultants on the floor immediately. We have proved for a month that remote working can be productive and efficient if perceived with an open mind. I think it is a micro managing mentality that would push for teams to be co located during this situation. If push comes to shove and things must reopen - we consultants should be the last or least of the concerns to be mobilized because we are even now working from home. It is the other sectors of day to day business that has to start functioning with the reopening in order to rejuvenate the growth stunted economy. We consultants working from home are not to be mistaken to be causing any economic slowdowns by working from home.

So Capco wants to be the first one laid off?

like

What kind of question is this?

As if deaths wouldn't tank the economy. If your employer opens and an employee dies, do you think the rest of his team will be in tomorrow?

Ventilator is not a vaccine.

Nope.
