Would you ever inform your coworker/managers about your ADHD? I’ve seen people becoming more aware of neurodivergency and wanting to listen to the experiences of neurodivergent people.

I’m insecure about my adhd and I think that once they know. They will start noticing traits that are currently part of my personality (High energy, talkative, etc) as part traits of my diagnoses (which they are). It might also give them a perception based on stereotypes that is not reality (I’m not lazy).

like

I think it’s quite situation specific but one theme I see is that the more senior you get and therefore the more senior your managers get the less risk and more reward there is. A lot of junior leaders are looking for mini me while more senior people see it more from a lens of building a functional team.

More so than upward I think there is a ton of value in being open with your team as it both makes them lean in and help as well as giving them permission to do the same. Now you can frame with a label like ADHD or frame as strengths and challenges. If giving it a label like adhd I’d frame first as strengths and challenges and then give adhd as a partial reason as this will help give them what you want them to hear vs their prior experience of someone else.

Personally no, but I commend those who would

No, people are skeptical about ADHD.

Yes, my boss has a daughter with it as well so she's quite sympathetic.

I would if I could manage to pull off one of my adhd moments of brilliance for them a couple/few big times…that’s the only way I’d feel comfortable doing it, and even then I’m not sure I’d ever be certain if that would be the right thing to do.

I started a job 4 months ago in industry. I was struggling a lot with imposter syndrome in the beginning. I felt inadequate and so anxious all the time. I’ve been going to therapy and started Zoloft. I’ve had enough. I may or may not have ADHD but I damn think so, as well as people I’ve talked to about it. I know I am smart and can accomplish certain things/tasks, but I literally just can’t get my mind to it sometimes. It was bad in college and only got worse since I started working. How do I go about at least getting tested or what’s the the process? Thank you so much in advance.

Hello fellow fishes!

Im trying to understand if I have add/adhd and the internet research is pointing towards a yes.

Im still a masters student and worked a bit (which was a disaster due to excel mistakes and inattentiveness) and have been a struggling inattentive and non focused student since ever..

Would you have any recommendations to better evaluate add/adhd or manage it at this point of time?

Ofc I am going to get professional help in due course but just wanted to know from you all.
