Understanding that people join country clubs for different reasons, I’m a huge golfer so that’s where I’m coming from as an FYI. With a few OTP exceptions, the courses are way better in conditioning, design, etc. at the ITP clubs. Unfortunately, the initiations are generally equivalent to a down payment on a house with monthly dues like an apartment lease. So an ITP club is definitely on a “one day but not right now” list for me. Also not sure if you plan on living ITP forever, but there’s a couple of clubs like Capital City and Ansley that have both ITP and OTP locations, which is great if you want to play after work in the week but don’t want to drive into the city on weekends.
Can you afford it?
what’s the initiation at druid for <40?
Yeah I have heard around 70+ for full membership. Would be really surprised if the slightly younger membership is that much cheaper. Also, not sure what their age cutoff is as well. Most of the clubs in town are around 36 or so for the age cutoff.
Most of the people I know at Ansley were “grandfathered in” or have been members for generations and could never afford the outrageous fees now. I love playing tennis there (Mango scented cold towels!) and the pool is beautiful as is the golf course but being just a mid level earner, I don’t think the crowd would be a fit. Instead we pay $600 bucks a year for the best boozy ITP neighborhood pool/tennis ever :)
Wait sorry SC2—are you willing to share this other amazing neighborhood pool/tennis place?
