I worked at a start up. A lot of people took pay cuts and spent their last checks cashing out their options when they left. It's worth nothing now 🤷🏼♂️ YMMV
That’s a lot of equity but you’ll 100% be diluted if it’s say series B or even Series C. Unless your shares are non diluting which is rare I believe

NO. I can’t afford to go back 45k in comp, for uncertainty of stock (which can take a long time). Find an offer that gives you a more comparable TC+ stocks.
Short term paycut is 6-12 months, a start up can take 5 years go to IPO

I’m still waiting for my pets.com options to pay out. They said there would be huge upside!

well what’s the equity they’re offering
0.5% based on $200M valuation, but I've heard this can be "diluted" with future rounds so not sure how firm that is
What's the split on your current TC

What are your shares worth now currently in this scenario? If 0.5% translates to say $300k, isn’t the upside amazing? Regardless of dilution w additional raises (b, c etc), the pie will grow bigger and your 300k could be worth 5x+ in x years..?
There are PE firms that do buy outs
How close to an exit are they? Shares are worth nothing without an exit
Not likely for 5+ years honestly
Your equity likely won’t vest for 4y ish anyway though..?
