I did that, and it's been a mixed bag. I don't regret it, but it hasn't been all it's cracked up to be, either.
I went from SM at Big 4 to a practice lead at a start up. Significant pay bump and an equity package.
I enjoy the work, and it was a big step up for me, but there are huge differences between the mega firms and a start up of 75 people. I have to wear a lot of hats ranging from account planning and BD work to client delivery and client management to being an HR specialist and making photocopies.
Just consider those differences before you make the switch.
Makes sense. I would have a base increase but it would only be from $110k to $130k.... good point though. Definitely something I’ll look to negotiate

yes - that's a good change in salary and you'll thank yourself at 60 when prestige and brand dont matter. Money for yourself and family is the priority (always), but especially as time goes on.

Okay seems like a good move then. Just make sure you can keep the job and they have a good pipeline of business. It’s one thing to land the job but you have to keep it for a few years too.
