Would you leave big 4 to relocate for your significant other?

Absolutely! Hopefully her career skyrockets and I can retire early!

like

Nope, my significant other is a partner, she just doesn't know it yet.

That's a case by case scenario. We can't tell you what to do? Consider the following: how serious is this SO? What are your future plans? Does their career have more chances of success or yours? Who makes more money/ covers most of the bills? COL location change? And so on...

I almost moved for my husband when he got an offer with Amazon. After we analyzed things, his raise was going to be 0 after COL adjustments and the career opportunities are higher where he is. So, we talked and stayed where we are.

If it makes sense, do it!

Planning on doing this. SO is finishing pharmacy school.

You can also relocate within the big 4 if they have an office where you're going. But if you don't want to stay big 4 then you should just leave anyways.

like

If transferring is an option try that first (if you want to stay). But there’s a million other jobs out there! B4 isn’t the end all be all. If the circumstances are right, do it!

Pro: Better COL, higher salary, closer to family&bf, work life balance, city I love
Con: leaving pwc at year 2 (which means no senior title)

like

Leave. Years of experience matter more than title. Good luck.

My husband, who had a successful career but is not yet 40, wants to retire and look after our kids while actively investing our money. I enjoy consulting and will gladly keep working. We also have a good amount of savings, mostly fueled by our frugality during his peak earning years. I feel like I need to support my husband’s dreams while negotiating clear terms. Has anybody been down a similar path and have advice?

Folks,
Have been married for 15 years and have a kid of 11 years. My spouse is falsely accusing me of domestic abuse and trying to get separated. We have had incompatibility even before marriage on various issues but it was an arranged marriage, we tried to work it out and stay together. Her side is asking her to move on. She has taken my kids passport and kept it with her. What are the options I have to defend myself?

Anyone here have two kids under two? Looks like it’s impossible to ‘balance’ work life. Mrs is expecting our second in a few months. First kid is 1. Is there any hope?

Ok so. I have been on this journey for almost a year now to try and 'get to know and love myself' and I'm not there yet. I separated from my ex in March of 2020 and divorce was finalized in October 2020. I'm still sad, lost, angry etc. I'm trying/tried therapy, meditation, ayurveda, self help videos, books, but I'm not happy with myself and I don't think I know myself. I want to be happy alone before I meet anyone new. Any tips or advice on how I can effectively accomplish this? Thank you!

During interview I was speaking to the hiring manager. Felt interview was going well. He seemed impressed by my answers, excited by my skills, and even gave me a tour of the office. At the end, he asked about my home life. When I spoke of my 3 young kiddos, the manager got a little taken back and replied Oh you have children? I said yes ages 3, 5, and 7. He then proceeded to ask me about daycare arrangements and if I can be reliable. Red flag as his demeanor changed and made me feel unworthy.

If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??
