Hello folks,
I have an offer for Data Scientist from Innopleux consulting (pharma domain, www.innoplexus.com/).
Can anyone comment on the work culture, projects, tech stack, growth opportunities and overall environment and health of the company? I have read a bunch of mix reviews on glassdoor and ambitionbox. Difficult to separate authentic from cooked up reviews. Any help would be highly appreciated.

More money better work life balance interesting work - doesn't that answer the question?
Lol. KPMG and Deloitte carry nominal difference in weight. Don’t let this forum fool you
Then that's a good thing to hear, I don't mean it as disrespectful just echoing what I've been hearing. If there's actually a difference between "a big name" and "a boutique firm" or if it's all consulting. (I know KPMG is not boutique, using it as an example)
100%. Not even a question. More time with my family for more pay is absolutely worth a “lesser” name.
OP is asking if it makes sense to move from D to McK
I'm not a recruiter, but whenever I see a consultant move to a "lesser" firm without a step up, I assume the most likely reason is that the consultant was struggling at the "greater" firm. I wouldn't pass them up if the skillset is relevant, but I would question the move during the initial interview.
Thankfully would be a step up title wise, but titles don't exactly line up which is mildly frustrating. Unfortunately the market adjustment just didn't do enough for my salary, plus I am not enjoying the work, so I want to jump ship. Feel like I could get better experience at a lesser name.
Would that jump stop you from moving forward with a candidate before the interview, or just raise an extra question during the interview process?
That is a no brainer...
company in the NYC area. I feel undervalued and don't love the work, but am I wondering if it is worth it to stick around for another 1-3 years to get the experience needed to exit or if it is better to leave for something that might not look as sexy on the resume, but would make me happier in the interim.
Basically just want to know, especially from a hiring manager's PoV, does name really matter that much?
(not actual company) but would you judge these two folks equally?
Person A: Deloitte Consulting 4 years
Person B: Deloitte Consulting 2 years, KPMG 2 years
Not trying to say "oh Deloitte is the best" because we aren't, but I think the name usually carries a bit more weight than KPMG does. No offense meant. I'm looking for a fairly technical role as well (BI mostly).
Tldr; does switching firms matter to a hiring manager, if so, does the name matter a significant amount for "getting in the door"?
I COMPLETELY agree with you VP1, the job I was sold on is not the job I got, nor the coworkers and I enjoyed my time at a "midsized" firm a lot more. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the name carries more weight with FAANG-type companies (which is where I eventually want to end up). I just wanted to poll the room so to speak to see if that was the case and if it would be more beneficial long term to stick it out.
Also, not going to KPMG although I am going through the interview process now :) different firm but same idea!
Lesser like MBB or Harvard?
D1 beat me to it.
Thank you for your helpful sarcasm.
OP - Just signed my offer letter for almost the exact situation you’re considering, except I’m looking more at the path to PPMD than a future exit to industry.
whatever marginal benefit you get from having Deloitte on the resume over KPMG cannot possibly overcome the other factors you mentioned, OP. and hell, you still have Deloitte on the resume.
(feel free to swap any big 4 into either of those spots. I'd argue the same dynamic applies even for MBB or Tier 2/other firms, although you might think longer about it)
The only time this might matter is getting an interview, which getting based on name alone is unlikely, you’ll need to network your way in for a real shot.
So let’s assume you do successfully network your way in, at that point, name brand means absolutely nothing. It’s going to come down to how you can sell your experience and impress in the interview.
Lmao no I'm not and sorry for the slow typing and thank you for the responses!
My issue is that neither one in my "end goal" and would be a temporary position, a few years, at most. However, I want to know how that will affect getting in the door at a dream company in the future. If it's worth it to suck it up for a bit or take the new (clearly better) position.
I know the other one is better lol especially in the short term, I'm more concerned about the long view. Not meant as a weird flex or crapping on other firms by any means
I think we often get confused on brand value. We internally amongst fish often think of names as having more and less value. In the real world it’s not all that true. You already have the name on your resume which shows you are capable. Lesser firm isn’t changing your skill set. Is a name really worth being paid less? This idea has always made me laugh. Know your value and go where will pay you it
D2, I don't know if the name is worth being paid less, that's why I'm asking because I genuinely don't know.
M2, I want to exit to a blend of technical and strategy. Analytics based, almost internal consulting type roles. So I think the technical skill set matters, but I just want to make sure the name won't keep me out of the door so to speak
