Would you leave to a Microsoft PMM role if you only have one year left till promotion to manager at your firm? Exit now or wait and get the title? Thoughts?

I personally wouldn’t take a PMM role at Microsoft. It’s mostly project management and IMO very boring (herding cats). However pay and WLB are solid

That's all roles outside of consulting. You have to bring your consultant mindset and after a year of shuffling paper you need to start building stuff, doing extra curricular, influencing decision makers and making a name for yourself so you can build your career. Most consuting roles especially at consultant level are just research, PowerPoint slides, excel and basic pmo.

As a M who was on the same boat to choose between waiting for SM in 1-2 years vs. big-tech opportunity, took the latter and no regrets! Aside personal satisfaction consulting title means much less elsewhere ..

As an ex-Acn SM I wouldn't hang around unless you think you'll boomerang back to consulting in the future. In my experience, no one outside of consulting cares what level you were in consulting.

Microsoft or ACN. Microsoft is the easy choice.

Makes sense! Thank you so much

What’s comp difference?

Waiting until you get M seems arbitrary- why wouldn’t you leave now with an offer in the table (assuming it’s a role that you want)?

Get your title

Incoming titles really don’t matter at big tech especially if your aiming for a role for < $500k a year

Not sure title will matter. If you like the company, role, team, benefits and pay take it now.

Lost sense of maximizing points/mileage value for int’l flights. Why is Detla redeeming so much more for some routes than Chase UR and even other partner airlines? E.g. non-stop economy btw Detroit-Seoul // Delta redeeming 160k on its own route while Chase UR 123k & Korean Air 80k for same route (code share)... I get it all depends on timing but still weird directly using Delta Skymiles on its own Delta route is more expensive than going through other methods....
