I did it in 2018. It was a great opportunity, more money with potential for even more money. I knew the culture would be tough. It was horrible. I made it 90 days before I asked for my old job back.
If you are looking for exit ops already then shoot for the moon. There are lots of places out there which will pay more and be better for you on an emotional basis. Don’t take the first thing that comes along and don’t settle. Find the job you want and when you get there establish the boundaries for what you will and will not do.
Speaking from experience I can now take time off once a month. I am basically a department head with an amazing team that just needs supervision but doesn’t need to be micro managed. I am making new friends but still am pretty close with the bestie I had at my last job.
I disagree with a previous reply here that it looks better on a resume to promote within. If you can get a job at a higher salary and promotion elsewhere then take it. Almost no company is looking out for you as number one. You have to do that for yourself.
Do you have family or other commitments outside of work? If so, keep those in mind as a shitty work environment can have a big impact outside of work.
If you are fine at your current job, why not keep looking for the perfect opportunity? Don't rush into a bad one when you have the luxury of time. If you leave your current job and get into a bad state, chances are that you won't be able to come back and will then really be in a bind to find something else.
