I just got an email from a recruiter from Google!

He said that the position is in the Bay Area or New York. I haven’t replied the email. I don’t think we can move to those cities, but I don’t want to lose this opportunity. Does anyone know if Google does remote jobs within US?

Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.

Yes, of course. I don’t care how awesome that ping pong table is.
I draw the line at hurricane, winter storm, nuclear catastrophe, locusts, terrorism, return of the mummy, zombies, tsunami, purple-level air quality from wildfires, alien invasion, 10% COVID positivity.
I’m a hard maybe. I’m not sure I want to WFH full-time forever, but I’m okay with 1-2 days a week in the office down the road. As long as I’m trusted and have flexibility. Creatives should be able to work anywhere.
At this point I’d leave if they forced me back regardless of covid cases.
You are not overreacting. It’s a ridiculous ask during peak Covid.

100%. I’m asking my company Monday about going full remote, if they say no, then I will immediately start looking for another job. Regardless of cases, I want the option.

✌️
Our office forced us back November, within a week my team had an exposure, and it took the office FOUR DAYS including a weekend to notify anyone. So yea, I’m never going back to this officeeeee! Of course they have gone back to remote after the holiday, no acknowledgement to previous recklessness.
And so many people have quit it would be hilarious if they fired me.

Yes. Because permanent WFH was one of the contingencies of me signing on.
I would look for another employer.
We went fully remote because it’s not worth the risk. Luckily my head of HR is immunocompromised so she was a staunch advocate for our health.
I’d refuse and make them terminate me. Call their bluff
Update: went in today to see how they'd manage being in the office. As expected, nobody is wearing masks despite mandates, and are cramming into tiny office rooms. No social distancing to be seen.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should write in my email to my manager?
Call public health. They'll shut it down
I'm freelance at a place that announced their back to office plans at the end of January and I'm strongly considering not renewing my contract if they make it mandatory. In the last two years we've managed pretty well considering the overnight jump we had to make. Personally I don't want to lose my personal time to a soul sucking crammed commute and a monthly metro pass. I really like my neighborhood shops.
At this point I’d leave for a fun sized bag of Cheetos.
How about a slight pay cut, but a family size bag of Andy Capp’s Pub Fries? Seriously though, do what’s best for you and yours.
As long as expectations are clearly set and agreed upon upfront, there’s nothing wrong with them insisting on in-person. Same thing is true for permanent remote.
You have options, your employer has options, and if either party isn’t satisfied, you should exercise them!

Thank you!
My company is currently doing this. Searching for new jobs as we speak.
Yes and also if I was mandated to take the vaccine

Do you have a medical problem that makes it dangerous for you to be vaccinated?
That's one of the many I'm looking for a new job now. Two people in my office just got over it, and almost no one in there wears a mask.
*if you know of a remote comm. Manager position, lmk 😁*
Yes.
Start coughing and sneezing. Problem solved
My work have been forcing us back for months. And for months I've been trying to find a new job.
Yes.
My current job tried to do RTO in July. I’m at a nonprofit that works with vulnerable children. We had a huge spike in cases statewide, and in staff and our children, so after a month of two days in office/three remote, we went right back to fully remote except when you absolutely had to be. Senior management did a survey of staff and last week said “ok, we hear you, forced days in office weren’t building any culture so we’re leaving it remote. It’s up to you and your manager to decide what days if any you need to be in office.” My manager immediately followed up with an email to our team saying our required days in office are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (initially my days were Monday and Tuesday). 🤷♀️
We were not supposed to be RTO if positivity is over 5 percent. I just got word that it’s currently 35 percent in my county, and we had more than 30 cases between our two offices in the last two weeks (at last count). No mention whatsoever of changing office hours. We can take masks off at our desk but I do not.
While I think my productivity is different in office, I really don’t know what to do about this.
