Would you live in fidi if there was a covid discount? In early 20s and worried it’s a very quiet / boring area but have found a nice luxury building discounted wifi lots of amenities.

The beauty of Fidi is that you can get anywhere in the city, no matter where your friends are/go out. And in general the buildings are nicer/newer

like

Yes I am doing it right now in the same boat as you and I love it. Still get to go out and enjoy

like

Going out I usually go up to EV or LES. But I enjoy some of the pubs around and stone st of course. I have some friends in fidi but my good friends actually live all across the city. But I jumped on a covid deal and live in a luxury building and I really enjoy it (esp bc this is my first apt here)

Debating this now, most of my friends live in chelsea or midtown so worried I'll start to have a drift eventually

like

Depends where your friend circle is. My close friend group somehow got divided into chelseaish and fidish area, and these two groups rarely hang nowadays unless its a big party. So much easier to walk 5 min to go over to each other’s house or bar within 3 blocks.

If you value your apartment (likely to spend a lot of time there) and don’t mind travelling to enjoy the city, then it might the right move for you. Personally, I spend more time out and about, so a top notch apt isn’t as important for me while location is.

Seems like pretty much everyone in their 20s is in FiDi now for the good deals and nice apartments! It’s a quiet boring area but if you want a good nights sleep, it’s perfect for you

like

It’s SO much more vibrant these days. Good bars and restaurants. A little nightlife on Pier 17. You get a lot of bang for your buck in FiDi: lots of buildings with amenities, easy access to transit, etc.

What buildings???

Probably

This was me a few months ago, I go out a little to Stone Street / Seaport but do venture to WV / EV / LES to meet friends. Being at fulton street stop is very nice to get anywhere. What building is doing covid deals?!

Would be a lease take over — so the building isn’t doing new covid deals

Just want to thank the people in this bowl for giving me advice on several posts awhile back post-COVID layoffs. Had taken on 2 other (senior) people’s jobs/duties and then successfully managed and executed 3 major projects, I finally asked my new boss (team lead) about a title change and I’m glad I did! It was definitely something he had not thought about but could see the clear reasoning behind it and was willing to go to HR to ask if it was possible.

I just want to hear the explanation for why staff who started during COVID are doing so badly on average (and I have heard this from every level including staff themselves) from the pro 100 percent work from home people. If you agree it’s real, what is your solution? If it can’t be fixed, are we just accepting that the people we expect to backfill our positions aren’t going to be ready?

Ladies, I need advice. I’m mid-20s and feeling painfully lost. For most of my younger years, my identity was rooted heavily in my friendships and social life. Graduating college and then obviously the pandemic took a toll on that, I moved home and many of my friends left the city I had lived in pre-covid. Flash forward to the world reopening, I don’t like my job, my friends live all over, I have a nonexistent love life, and I don’t know what to do next

Who left consulting recently due to Up or Out culture? Did you change your mind about Up or Out post COVID?

I know there has been similar discussion here recently, but how is WSGR PA Corporate's culture? I've been perusing forums and hear really conflicting accounts with some people saying that it's horrible, while others saying it's good. Also, there was talk on people leaving WSGR en masse to other firms (especially Cooly) and WSGR not being in the best place (although that was pre-covid and I guess things might have changed since then). Is it true that WSGR is/was declining?

I’m a business/commercial lawyer with 8 years experience looking to relocate to Chicago from NYC area, while also trying to make the jump to in-house after only ever working at a boutique firm. It’s been 5 months and I haven’t had any luck applying to job postings on the usual sites (no calls, no interviews, nothing). I can’t tell if this is due to covid, the market, the fact that I don’t have any in-house experience, the fact that I live out of state, or something else entirely. Any insights??

Hey I have an ASC840 accounting question on this scenario - a target sold an asset 10 years ago for 10,000,000 and immediately leased it back. They recorded a deferred gain of $1M and amortized it over the term of the lease (still going) and letting that gain every month reduce the rent expense. Since this deal is cash free debt free shouldn’t we treat this as a debt like item? They received the cash in a prior period but we are now stuck with the payments. Once we get him into his bed, he typically screams I want you mommy for 20 minutes till he falls asleep. This breaks my heart so I’ve been cuddling with him but the problem is that will last till 9pm and I have stuff I need to do. He pretends to be sick to avoid school but tells me he likes school but would rather stay home with me. He goes daily from 830-5
