Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

Obviously incentivized. Get money for something or not?
That said, if it was free referrals, I’d likely only give referrals who are top of mind. Incentivized, I may go hunt for a referral on my LinkedIn, actively meet people at networking events in hopes to earn some extra cash.
I’ve seen some referral bonuses a few hundred bucks (200-500) and up to 10k. The lower it is, less likely I am to try and refer someone.
How are you a manager lol. Yes referrals for money
I love giving referrals, for cash bonuses. If you have to ask, you haven't been in the game long enough, or you just have budget issues
Cash bonuses, ideally with a breakdown by Level (L4 vs L7 referrals should have different bonuses based on the value they bring to the business).
Fixed amount or a percentage of the sign on bonus
Has to be monetary.
Flat amount. Google does around $3k.

Umm… Deloitte gives sign on bonuses.

Money, but my company asks for proof that you’ve worked with someone or can speak for them personally since they had too many people referring anyone for the referral money they’d get if they were hired.
I wanna get paid

Not sure why I would choose against getting paid for referrals. Agreeing on adding a few conditions like proof you’ve worked together or contingency upon tenure.
My consulting firm offered 10k per referral that was hired and stayed over 90 days a few years back.
Are you paying your recruiters in your company?
If yes, then referrals should be incentivized.
If not, then the referrals should be for free.
Incentives for sure. I've referred people without them to help a friend in need of a change, but I definitely do it more actively when my company provides an incentive
I’d rather be given the choice ad-hoc at the time HR needs the decision to forecast budget for the year and have the ability to toggle said choice at will. Modular benefits that fit each employee and evolve as their needs change. Be proactive, not reactive with your resources.
Money or time off are the only incentives I’d care about
In a capitalist country, incentivized. Cash bonuses (even if $25-$50) for referral, $500 for hire, and/or extra half day off per referral without taking from PTO. If you offer equity then give me 5 extra RSU per referral submitted and 50 rsu per hire minimum. The higher the role the more rsu. Im bringing good people in which is an investment in the company. So invest back into me
