Would you rather work busy season for a full year or spend a week in the Alaskan wilderness and get the rest of the year off? You’d have some close calls in Alaska, but you’d survive.

And why?

@KPMG, I get that but OP said we’d survive Alaska despite a few close calls. If I wouldn’t die, and I’d only have to bear the terrible conditions for 1 week, with the rest of the year off, I still say it’s a better deal than a year long busy season

Alaska - because I work crazy hours here to fund trips to places like Alaska to go camping, so free trip doing what I love is an easy choice :-)

What kind of question is that! Both situations sound like hell, but at least one of them only lasts a week and then I can chill the rest of the year!

Train for whole year and battle for survival in Alaska for one week - doesn’t sound like a bad gig.
Depends on money tho lol. Training ain’t cheap

like

You people thinking this one week in Alaska is a ‘vacation’ are idiots and don’t understand the question. The OP is referring to the ‘Alaskan Bush’ which is one of the most isolated/treacherous pieces of land in Alaska where you only survive for you life by hunting, while concurrently being hunted by large animals. If ill prepared, you won’t come out with your life

Obviously folks have never seen The Gray.

You’re fighting wolves, bears, hypothermia, starvation, etc etc. In no way is this a whale watching cruise...

Pretty sure I can pack out enough food for a week.

Not like I haven't camped in wilderness for that long before..

like

This isn’t a vacation. You’re battling for survival...

Alaska 100%

Alaska. Sounds like a nice vacation.

Believe it or not, some people find hiking, camping, and outdoorsy things fun and relaxing - and vacation-worthy trips

Alaska, hands down. Then hit the lecture circuit inspiring people and write a book.

Not a vacation at all. Just a life experience worth having.

Week in the wilderness. Because that's my idea of a good vacation.

You can easily survive a week with minimal food. Just need to stay warm via fire/shelter. Def Alaska.

Alaska in a hot minute. 1 week you can survive with basic camping gear.

Curious about thoughts on on discount points (I think I’ve already read every article on Google). I am refinancing my personal residence (future rental) as well as a rental property. The mortgage brokers discourage me from spending a ton on points (rolled in, not up front). In some cases, it’s a 16 year break even. I get that’s a very long time to break even, but I have no intention of getting rid of the properties and doubt rates will drop much below current. Max breakeven point for you?
