Hi Fishes,
I am a 2020 B.Tech CSE graduate. I got campus placed in IBM, and was trained in Java FSD, but was allocated a role with no link to development. I really like development, and have good exposure in Java programming and web development.
My probation will be over in January, I want to move to a development related role as soon as possible. I am AWS Certified (Foundation Level).
Any leads are appreciated.

Definitely the former. Getting a package offers some financial support until you find another job. And if you're in the position to have some savings, as well, you can take a short break from work and go on a vacation before starting over. Been there, done that.
As someone sitting in the latter, having the notice doesn’t feel like much solace. Thanks for contributing!
Definitely immediate termination with severance. No contest.
@Author if it makes you feel any better I’ve had one as a contractor where there was no notice or severance. Nothing. Just cold dropped a ton of people on a Friday. We found out through MS teams as people’s accounts were getting disabled slowly throughout the day.
Have gone through both, currently through the latter and it sucks for morale knowing that everyone else gets to keep their stupid job
Former. Although it also brings in a lot of tears it is the better option in the long run.
I am the first option. Just shy of 21 years so my severance package allows me 10 months to find something before pay and benefits end.
The former, severance provides a bit more financial cushion to sort things out.
Short answer, the former.
Was just laid off with severance and in today's market, 3 weeks seems like it's not nearly enough time to transition. Especially if you're not able to dedicate a lot of time to find other employment.
