Actually, that's the perfect time frame. 3 to 5 years is ideally the time frame you want when it comes to promotion. It show's that you're seasoned.
Agree on the title inflation at startups.
I get bored every 18 to 24 months of the same role or company. But that doesn’t mean that if you’ve found a niche that fits your knowledge set and personality, there’s no harm in staying! Especially if they are at least giving you raises and/or equity regularly to help retain you.
That's no bad at all!! That's pretty much the standard. Some companies actually look at longer durations between promotions as a good thing.
I think it would only look bad if the promotion was to a relatively junior position. In most career paths junior positions promote quicker than higher level ones, so I don't think anyone looking at your resume would bat an eye if it was manager level or above.
Honestly I agree with everyone! the time span doesn't matter, as long as you feel the responsibilities match up with the promotion and you're happy with the way the role is going. Basically, as long as you feel comfortable explaining it in a future job interview, I think you're fine
3 years is about right. What position are you applying for?
Just other pm positions!
Thanks all for the feedback! Makes me feel a lot better and it’s just helpful to know
