Would you say a manager/senior manager in public or a controller in industry does more technical accounting work? What about partner vs CFO?

This is very company dependent. Both who the manager is auditing and who the controller works for

like

It truly depends on the company. If there’s is lot of action/growth, then yes the manager will be doing a lot of technical work, possibly more than a public manager who is overseeing non-complex clients.

And vice versa, but I would say in general public accounting will be more technical accounting exposure than industry at manager level.

like

Generally speaking you will see more technical work in PA unless your role industry technical accounting focused. Most private companies don’t have a role dedicated to that and also don’t engage in many complex transactions to require it.

2nd year. I was working a 2500 billable hour pace at my prior firm, left and went to a smaller firm 6 mo. ago. People are nicer, no longer expected to work literally 24/7, but I’m still miserable with the unpredictable workload. I had an injury earlier this year and wasn’t able to recover properly because I couldn’t take the time away for appts. I love the work I do, but I don’t think I can sustain the unpredictable schedule much longer. Is in house actually better? Other options?

A friend of mine is getting married on Friday in Mexico. I wasn’t feeling great so I took a Covid test and got a positive result. The flight I had booked leaves tomorrow so I’m obviously not going to go, I texted her that I unfortunately wouldn’t be able to go and she seems upset. I’m super upset that I can’t attend my friends wedding but I don’t know what else to do. I’ll still obviously send a gift and offer to take her out to dinner to celebrate later.

Can someone explain reversing entries .. say you incur an expense of 10k and haven’t received an invoice in January. Then the invoice comes mid-feb and you DR exp for 10k, CR AP 10k….. so the expense was appropriately captured in Jan and nets to zero in February but now you have a credit of 10k in accrueds sitting January books and a debit of 10k for …
