Take the opportunity. There is often a feeling of imposter syndrome, but if you’re confident, have a growth attitude, and actively seek opportunities to learn, you’ll be positioning yourself well.
Thank you for ur advice. That’s what my plan is, I figured I’m going to have to go thru difficulties anyway, might as well take the promotion, try my best and learn and be average this year and next year be better/stronger.
I didn’t want to say no and risk not having the same opportunity available.
So I was a corporate tax person and joined partnership tax. I just got senior manager promotion after a year working in partnerships. I feel like every senior manager I work with knows a lot more than me. I survived as a first year by looking at prior year and asking questions. Basically finding good people to ask for guidance and help and building upon knowledge. I am thinking to read logic of sub chapter k and take every training available in ipacs. And try to get up to speed. I’m not sure what else to do. I’m kind of thinking did I do wrong by agreeing to a fast promotion? It’s just I see these senior managers like spitting out irs codes and regs like it’s nothing and I can’t do that. I will say all the senior managers I work with have 6 or 7 years of experience at that level so of course they will know everything.

Logic of sub k. It’s the best book to read.
Also OP - yes, that’s probably one of the hardest parts about being SM. But in that sense, it really pushes you to make sure your advice is correct.
Some real first world problems right here
If this is your response to garden-variety career advice requests, I think you may be in the wrong place…
I would take the opportunity. Reading Logic is a good move.
Why on earth would anyone turn down a promotion… you can stay put or move down the ladder anytime you want by being bad at your job, only moving up the ladder happens on someone else’s schedule rather than your own
Good point. I guess I heard some managers turn down senior manager cause they didn’t think they were ready? I heard, I don’t know anyone who did this.
I agree with your point, best to take the opportunity
