Better indicator of work ethic
It's a better indicator than standardized tests
"Everybody is a genius. But if you measure a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." ... "What is your genius."
@BAML1 some bright kids don't test well and vice versa so I totally disagree
Not as good an indicator as standardized tests
Anything involving exams isn't generally a great indicator of intelligence as anxiety often occurs in people who are of above average intelligence. People with a high GPA are probably either smart or good at rote learning, while people with mediocre GPA are not necessarily unintelligent, or even bad at their subject.
Best indicator in my opinion, though not necessarily a great indicator
@HL1 as a biology major, I'm going to point out that biology is only easy to do well in at crap schools where they don't teach you how to do proper science. Where I went you didn't pass without a strong statistics game, for instance, where a lot of students who thought bio would be the soft option fell down ;)
At least it indicates that you can count to 4
definitely indicator of good work ethic
I don't think either is a great indicator. You can work really hard and not be that smart, or vice versa. Intelligence does not necessarily guarantee success across different environments.
Work ethic and intelligence to the extent of the abstract thought required in the major. Anyone can hit good numbers in a business major or something like biology. Physics/math much harder.
^^correct. Additionally, intelligence is not singular but rather comprised of at least 9 identified types. These 9 types may be complementary and overlapping. Imo, a true measure of intelligence is the degree of intelligence within each of the categories and how well an individual utilizes them across the spectrum . For example, logical-mathematical and music (Mozart or Wittgenstein ) or naturalist and spatial (John Muir) .

Agree with GS1
How do we improve work ethic?
@BAML1 that's fair kind of hard to really compare kids on a somewhat level playing field
Agreed
£££ or $$$ ....depending on your city of choice
Yeah, how do you improve work ethic (without taking Adderal)?
Yes, but I hate to be frank, physics and math majors are usually so socially inept as to be useless.
