Would you settle for a partner on a physical level if you knew they would be faithful and dependable? Or keep shooting for a dream partner? I’m an adult male and would like a family at some point. Have seen what divorce can do to people, and it seems shallowness is a key cause.

Looks fade but character is forever. Cheesy for sure and physical attraction is absolutely necessary but gotta look at the bigger picture for the long haul

My consulting mindset directly went to consulting partners and the post looked completely different from those lenses. Lol

This is… odd. Why are faithful and dependable the top priorities? These should be considered bare minimum. And if you think for a second that you’re “settling,” you should not be with that person.

In the context of this post, I would disagree that a super high divorce rate isn't showing that people aren't faithful and dependable. I'd everyone had those traits, divorce would be the exception. Not the knee jerk reaction. There would be very few situations that couldn't be worked through. If there is a 50% chance your car is going to breakdown, would you call that dependable?

In my experience, the key indicator of happy marriage has been partners who love to plan together whether that’s goals to build wealth, push each other on career milestones, building the dream house, etc. don’t think you have to give up on physical attraction. There are some badass women out there.

I would agree - my husband and I are at our best together when we’re planning our next goal/adventure.

Only you can decide what is most important to you and what type of things create attraction for you. I know that I could date someone who is carrying a little extra weight, but given my emphasis or fitness and healthy eating, don't think I'd be attracted to someone overweight. Friend, yes. Lover, no. But dream or perfect does not exist. It's a matter of what is a deal breaker for you.

Most of us don’t look like we did at 20. I’d go for a relationship that is emotionally fulfilling, and in which there’s mutual attraction. I wouldn’t settle for less, but I wouldn’t set the standard higher than that. But who knows, every single opinion is just N=1

What? No. My husband is hot and awesome (in my opinion). Just find someone who is your kind of hot and awesome.
