Would you take a job in VC at a legitimate fund if it paid less than your market value by a large amount (e.g: 30-50%)?

It depends on your current exp and how far you can grow over there.

There are many things to consider beyond current salary, I would do it if I could afford it (mortgages, childs, school debt... you know your finances) and if it gets me closer to where I want to be in the future.

Can't u find a similar opportunity that pays you closer to your market value?

30% discount to IB Associate or IB analyst?

Consulting or industry -- not IB range

How well capitalized is the VC fund? Are they going to give you carry for accepting a pay cut?

I am a 10 yr lawyer. 7 yrs in my practice area. Little over a year at current firm. Still an associate. Im at large plaintiff firm w/ billable requirements. I do mass/class cases and hold a couple leadership positions (these were competitive to get). What should salary be and when should I make partner. I’ll add I work remote and pretty autonomously. Little contact with partners or anyone at my firm.

Hi Bowls,

I am working as an Associate Business Intelligence Engineer and have an experience of 17 months in this field.

Currently, I got my first appraisal from 5lpa to 8lpa for these 17 months. Is the appraisal according to the current market standards or should I ask for more?

Should I also talk to the management regarding the promotion from Associate Business Intelligence Engineer to Business Intelligence Engineer?

Please give your valuable input for this.

Thanks

Is pursuing a part-time Masters worth the 60k price?

I’m two semesters in at a part-time Masters program. The program says it’s pretty selective and it’s at a prestigious school, but I am not sure if the content I’m learning is worth the 60k tuition price. I expected more, but all the lessons seem fairly broad. Has anyone completed a Masters program and saw a significant increase in salary?

My goal is to become a Project Manager with 180k -200k pay. 2 yoe

Would you submit a resignation letter(RL) if the employer is requesting one? I used to work in Sales with a Fortune 500 company for 8 years before leaving and starting a new role in IT with a small biz(medical practice). Was fortunate to have the opportunity to 180 my field, but the practice manager is an impulsive leader, which leads to a lot of disorganization. I am remote and they need someone FT. When we spoke about it they gently fired me because I couldn’t go FT, and now want a RL.

Advice to young lawyers. Read a book.

I saw the thread about savings and many young lawyers (20s and 30s) don’t know how to open up a brokerage account or invest in their 401k. I know they don’t teach personal finance in school (though they should!), but my advice is that you should go to your local library and read a book about the subject. You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.
