Can't count the number of times I've said this!

Any opinions about Thesis as a creative?
Happy week! Stay positive.. 👍
Hi Fishes,
Anyone here at Luxoft with permanent remote ? I got an offer. Will they ask to come to office at any point ? What about job security at Luxoft ? HR mentioned 8 hours per day and no need to enter timesheet, time will be auto captured. That means like we can't be away from the system at all ? Please help.
Thanks

Weird take. Company gives you what you want and you tell them to pound sand.

What..? Why would it be foolish? Did you not feel ready for the role and responsibilities?
I’m in tech and generally lower level people (like me) don’t always respect non-technical managers. I felt taking it would replace hard skills development with soft skills development but I didn’t want to transition yet.

Bruh this is like a girl who is way out of your league asking you out on a date and you say no???

It’s a bold strategy Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for them.
I can see the logic in some specific situations, if you're really sure that you don't have the chops and that a bad experience will burn you for future opportunities. In general, though, why would you? It's a better role and compensation than you have, it's a better experiential opportunity, you learn most by taking accelerated responsibilities, you can always spin the narrative in your favor...what exactly is the downside?
I’m very impact driven which is why in many ways the role was good. I just thought it was better to learn more in a tech heavy environment under the mentorship of technical leads before moving into a people management role.
I am luckily not on the fence. I was decisive in turning it down, just got some feedback from friends that seem to be mirrored in this thread lol. I will find out in a few weeks whether this is all worth it once all interviews are done 🤞
Why didn’t you take a lower salary and stay within the senior associate title?
I did exactly this. Managed to land a M&A manager role after <2years of mostly operational consulting work. Been here for 1y now. Steep learning curve but extremely glad I accepted, I accelerated growth and feels like I hacked the game and skipped a level.
I wish I had this option. You might have felt uncomfortable at first but you might have been able to adapt. I say might because I don’t know
actually know you. The company seen something in you.

Absolutely no hesitation in taking this. Opportunities to step up and prove yourself and get paid for it are what everyone always hopes for. This was a rare opportunity, usually tech companies downlevel people.
To clarify this wasn’t a tech company which is why they were unable to hit my asking at that level
Took a manager role with 1.5 YOE. Your people skills and PMO skills will take you far. Work ethic earns respect as well
Update as I was second guessing myself and beginning to regret my decision. Everything worked out, I got an offer above asking for SWE at a recent/soon to IPO tech company
Bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush but it’s also ok to take a risk and hold out for the right opportunity!
