Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) Gartner Hi! I'm currently working as an Account Manager in SMB at Gartner. Received an offer to work at GLG EMEA's enterprise financial institutions segment, also as an Account Manager.
Does anyone have any feedback about GLG? Any advice? I do like Gartner but they're offering me a better pay and to work in a much more interesting segment at GLG.
Yes, I would do it if you want to get into marketing. I took a $10k pay cut to move from sales into strategy and never regretted it as I’m much happier in this role and see a future in it. If your company is like mine, sales salaries has a commission component which was never guaranteed, so it’s a more stable income. In the long run 2k isn’t going to impact your lifestyle, so I would say go for it if you think marketing is a role you will enjoy!
I’m in the same boat, also looking to move from sales to marketing! For me it might be also the same or slightly lower pay. I do think it will be worth it in the long run if this is the direction you want your career to go. I’m pivoting because I want to move into strategy/business development. Also for me, marketing will be more stable and less travel, and less demanding (from a customer service POV).
I would ask about opportunities to reevaluate your salary or title in 6-12 months.
Honestly, $2k isn't a ton when you look at how much it breaks down to in your paycheck. If it's something you want to do, I'd do it. You may not get another chance like this.
If it's something you REALLY want to do, go for it. Sometimes you have to take that career cut to get where you want. But you can get your feet wet with your current company and gain some experience, since other companies may not want to hire based on lack of experience
Hey guys - going through something like this right now. I’m a BDR (base: 65k, OTE: 110k, actual: 193k) with 4 years of industry experience that we sell into. Applied for the strategic channel alliance role and my company is offering me (base: 95k, OTE: 150k). Does anyone know if this is fair?
Amongst what others have said, you should also take into consideration of what you know about the role and who you would be reporting to. Since you are already in the company, will be the mentorship that you gain from a company/department/manager worth it (assuming you know them or can gain insight from other coworkers)?
Versus starting a new company where you don't know the culture & management style and the type of respect you be given as an entry level person.
Internally? No. Externally, maybe.
If you’re losing money in commissions that’s just the name of the game when you want to leave sales however it sounds like they are cutting your salary…not ideal.
There would be a number of things I would consider, will this allow you to level up (skills, money over time, happiness)? is this manager someone who can progress you?, how bad to you want out of Sales? You could always take this minor downgrade then leave once they’ve given you the skills for another company that pays more if you’re truly interested in marketing.
In my experience (limited to financial services recruiting) marketing professionals don’t make a ton unless they have a digital or technical spin to their skills or are very senior level- I think this will change over time as companies reevaluate the importance of good marketing.
Could be a really smart move long term!
I would take the pay cut if it meant transitioning into a role I actually wanted to gain experience in. Is marketing a field you have been hoping to transition into? If so, I say go for it!
I think it's always a pay cut initially and it's only worth it if you know that's what you want.
Would 2k significantly affect your budget? If it's not much of a problem for you and you prefer marketing work instead of sales, then go for it. Besides, you'll still have room for growth/promotion as an entry-level employee. You'll probably get back your previous salary rate in a year or two.
2k is really not that much over a year. If it was something I really wanted I would take the cut. If it would make me happier to transition I would take the cut.
Also if you go to another company you’re most likely not going to get a pay cut like that some people even job jump where every two years they move companies to get a pay increase which I don’t recommend doing but you could maybe look at other companies too if you don’t mind leaving.
I actually made this exact choice around 6 months ago. I was in sales development and took a 15k pay cut to move into content writing. I absolutely think it was the right choice since now that I have experience I can apply to anywhere and probably regain some of the lost salary. Before this I wasn’t able to get a single interview for marketing roles . So I’d recommend doing it!
