All the red flags are there lol CW1 I want to work with you.

No 401(k) match is like a $3K pay cut per $50K of salary. Factor in the missing bonus, and the “$50K more” really isn’t $50K more.

DON’T TAKE IT. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.

I’m not a fan of their lack of ability to align expectations about the purpose of an interview meeting. Thinking it’s an informational chat and then being dropped into a panel situation is pretty unfair and a red flag. You’ll see this 4x a month when you get there. If you accept, set clear expectations around work because they won’t be able to.

like

What kind of red flags?

like

That sounds pretty rough to me, and I agree about 50 K not really being 50 K once you remove the things they aren’t offering. However, I think the real question is whether you think you can do work there that will be good enough to continue building your portfolio and your skillsets. If so, theoretically could be the worth the risk. But If the red flags are telling you that the work will suffer and your mental health will too, forget it. You will become a less desirable employee down the road. Short term payout, long-term loss.

Probably not, depends on your situation. If you're thinking it's a bad idea probably is.

Can you strong arm another 50k in your current role by using that offer letter for leverage? Keep your title, 401k and stay with the devil you know?

like

Digitas hires so many 20 year olds for a reason. They’re super cheap. I highly doubt they’ll counter.

like

Nope. Stay away! You can for sure get 50K more somewhere else in the market now - get that money (with fewer sacrifices)!

like

You can get a pay bump in other roles. Go with your gut. Unless it’s crazy stupid life changing money (which 50k is not), a terrible job is rarely worth the additional income.

titles are nothing more than letters on a piece of paper and leaving the agency world usually means a step down.

It’s still an agency role

Nope. Too many places where you can get $50k extra pay

Thoughts on 401k allocation at 26? Considered just doing all SP500 but kinda want more diversification. Small cap seems to have a very high expense ratio (0.82%); is it still a generally good play? Also mid cap performance seems meh compared to SP500... 60% FXAIX (SP500) 20% FSMAX (mid cap) 10% QUAZX (small cap) 10% FSPSX (international)

Everyone says staying until one year manager is key to jumping to a great position outside of audit, however I would think there's a ton of value of jumping at senior, gaining corporate accounting experience, and then if you wanted to jump from there opportunities would also be present.
