No 401(k) match is like a $3K pay cut per $50K of salary. Factor in the missing bonus, and the โ$50K moreโ really isnโt $50K more.

Iโm not a fan of their lack of ability to align expectations about the purpose of an interview meeting. Thinking itโs an informational chat and then being dropped into a panel situation is pretty unfair and a red flag. Youโll see this 4x a month when you get there. If you accept, set clear expectations around work because they wonโt be able to.

That sounds pretty rough to me, and I agree about 50 K not really being 50 K once you remove the things they arenโt offering. However, I think the real question is whether you think you can do work there that will be good enough to continue building your portfolio and your skillsets. If so, theoretically could be the worth the risk. But If the red flags are telling you that the work will suffer and your mental health will too, forget it. You will become a less desirable employee down the road. Short term payout, long-term loss.๏ฟผ

Can you strong arm another 50k in your current role by using that offer letter for leverage? Keep your title, 401k and stay with the devil you know?

Nope. Stay away! You can for sure get 50K more somewhere else in the market now - get that money (with fewer sacrifices)!
You can get a pay bump in other roles. Go with your gut. Unless itโs crazy stupid life changing money (which 50k is not), a terrible job is rarely worth the additional income.
