https://bit.ly/3f71kOA Hi All! The NYC Advertising bowl is launching a little project for our 5 boroughs called Networking With Neighbors. The industry is a small one and we’re closer together than we think as we WFH. Find your next connection, opportunity or new friend right in your neighborhood or one nearby.
I’m relatively new to freelancing, but was lucky enough to sell in a video shoot and travel to be there on set. How do you handle billing hours and expenses in this scenario as a freelancer? Obviously I’ll bill any hours working on the project, time on set and expense my travel. Do you bill extra for the billable hours you lost during travel?
I love my project ... really
Advice on dealing with clients who are super lazy / really rely on you to do everything? Interested to know if work on wknds is common in consulting here in the ME ? From a small sized firm here, where wknd work is quite common here on projects; even proposal days are sometimes pretty intense (65-80 hrs per week), assuming because work load per staff is higher Can people from diff. firms please comment their weekly hours (project + proposal) + any wknd work I heard that for the top tier firms, hours during the week are brutal, but weekend work is discouraged for the most part
Client: Why arent you working from the latest version of the file!? Me: This is the latest version on the server Client: I mean the one I finished 5m ago and haven't shared with anyone. Obviously!
What happens when our client’s internal tech dev team wants to take our solution, tweak it, and build it themselves? When is this okay and when is it not okay?
I have a weird question. I am splitting my time in 2 tracks of the same project and each track has its own SM. Track 1 SM wants me to escalate against Track 2 SM for he is delinquent is providing some information. This puts me in an uncomfortable situation as I don’t want to sour my working relationship with Track 2 SM (This escalation will sure blow up) How do you handle these situations?
In a predicament need some thoughts: I’m getting offered a new role (not a promotion, just a new role within my project) that has more lead level responsibilities. It seems if I take this role and do well at it, I could potentially get promoted mid year or end year. Now, this is coming at an interesting time when I was already looking to transition to a new company - an immediate transition will get me a quicker salary bump that I would otherwise have to wait a bit to get at my current company
I think I am done. I work way too many hours to make this project work and don't think anyone else gives a damn. I get paid shit and this isn't worth it.
Ever see a flight to a vaca destination across from your client and say fuck it and take it?...I did it today, may get fired but oh well
Recent college student doing security clearance for a project. Question asks in the past 7 years if we have ever done drugs. I did marijuana in college, but have quit, and have not touched it for a year. I do not have any reports that can confirm I have used it. But then again on the clearance website it says 60% of college students have partaken. Causing doubt for any student who says they are fully clean. Is it better to report or to not report for security clearance?

I have an offer to join BCG as a consultant, and would be coming in as an experienced hire from a boutique firm. What recommendations do fishers have for negotiating? What are your thoughts on sending out company/region-wide farewell slack messages when quitting? What’s a good way to announce but not be annoying in this remote world? I was gonna do an Irish goodbye but felt that was a little disrespectful.
Current comp is near the top of the band for a role I was offered. If I jumped I would be taking a ~7% increase while I was hoping for something closer to 20%. Is it possible to counter and push past the band? I was offered a raise during my interview process so the original jump of 15% was decreased to 7% based on my new salary.

Long Post : I have a divorced female friend that I have known for over 15 years and consider as a sister. For the past couple weeks because I was on the bench and bored we talked about an hour+ often, especially when I am walking and need company. My wife went through my T mobile call history and mad because I'm talking to her too often and too long. She knows the friend as well and we all hangout on multiple occasions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or my wife is just insecure?
