Seems conceited to me. Everyone knows there are more qualified applicants than there are spots in the class, why not give more of those people on the waitlist the opportunity to attend? Let’s not pretend there are only 900 people worthy of a spot in the class in a given year
I guess it’s easier to comply with social distancing guidelines with fewer students on campus. That might be the reason why they didn’t pull more from the waitlist.

If they admitted 200 off the waitlist, imagine the cascading effect on other M7s except Stanford
I wouldn’t be shocked if class size is down at most schools this year. Hopefully that means for us incoming admits this fall (who are putting up with a disrupted learning experience) that the job market in 2022 will be less competitive for desirable opportunities

Would’ve diluted their brand if they allowed 200 waitlist kids off
Was a smart decision

OP is thinking it’ll be tougher to get into HBS for Fall 2021. Those who would’ve gotten in typically will go to S or W instead.
Suppose H admits 100 less next year. Those 100 will prob get into S/W and go there
Less competition when I graduate 😜😜

More jobs for the HBS graduates in two years.
now deloitte must be more prestigious
Are they online only for the upcoming year?
Not decided yet
HBS had 200 people defer yes, and they chose to only admit ~20 off the waitlist, despite the fact they kept a really large waitlist (much larger than prior years) after round 2. They had a lot more on the waitlist they could’ve admitted if they wanted to keep the class size the same.
No more than ~20 for a total class size of 720
HBS didn’t have a round 3 last year either
Agree it was a good decision to not take more people from waitlist. Not following the logic of the idea that deferrals will make W and S stronger as a result

^same
HBS has a ridiculously huge class size anyways. At 750 they might still have the biggest MBA class size in the US (depending on Wharton)
