Oh look, another misleading headline from CNN!
Not as bad as you make it seem...
The senator's communications director, Leacy Burke, told CNN in a statement that "Sen. Inhofe is always moved by the family stories of nominees, and was especially touched by Ms. Fox's tribute to her father during the opening remarks."
"He made a lighthearted joke at the end of his questioning to recognize her father again since he was present for the hearing. As he said in the hearing, Inhofe looks forward to working with Ms. Fox once she is confirmed," Burke said.

Why is this even a story? He’s jokingly saying that he will literally talk to her father who was present at the hearing. He’s a good ol’ boy from Oklahoma, it’s not weird for him to call him her Daddy.
He had just finished praising her opening remarks. What’s CNN doing publishing headlines with #MeTop-esque undertones by taking innocent jokes out of context? Totally shameful and a great example of why people have less faith than ever in major news outlets.

Who’s your daddy D1?
The context isn’t as creepy as the headline. Still inappropriate but not as bad as I thought.

Agree with C1, with the context this is more of a bad joke than a deeply offensive/dismissive line that the headline makes it out to be
The fact that this was even a comment in any professional setting is itself disrespectful. She’s a intelligent, capable woman that is responsible for her own actions, not some child that can’t control their behavior and needs to be reprimanded at home. Joking intent doesn’t make the comment any less inappropriate for a professional setting.
A) a member of society. Who are you to question whether someone is allowed to have an opinion on a collectively defined standard like professionalism? Who are the people that *ARE* eligible to decide?
B) thats exactly what they said in their post.
Also, numbered list > letters. Pls fix
