Ok maybe they can't articulate it, but be kind. Organizational disappointment is tough to take, when you are young.

No this was an actually conversation I had with someone today...

Been there several times this year

Bet OP is a partner

There's so much pompous entitlement though... I hear you OP

Not a partner

Please commiserate with the peanuts that your comrades get for busting their asses throughout the year

EY1. Busting your ass doesn't necessarily mean you deserve a promotion. It's about the quality of work and the competencies you need to have to be successful at the next level. If you can't handle the next level, and you get there, you will fail and get laid off....so you're welcome.

@OP matter of personal opinion - but I do not think the typical engagement at a big 4 is rocket science that necessitates a high degree of competency/skill. I have seen plenty of slackers across the firms that lead me to believe that someone who has busted their ball should have a clear path to progression unless there are red flags ( teaming/ people/communication skills lacking etc. )

Need help from mentors fishies please. Trying to choose between:
1. Current role: good relationships, strong performer, high pay, on track for promotion in a year, boring industry and project work; and

Approaching 1 YOE in consultancy; 9 YOE in industry (med device). $100k base at hire. Annual/merit increase to $106k. Band median is $115k. During perf. review, hiring supervisor targeted median this year. Different supervisor now due to promotions, though. Thoughts on asking for a raise at service anniversary (not even 6 mos since increase)?

My billable rate x hours has me leaving $$$ on the table. I see job posts at $125k+, but I hate interviewing and have no desire to jump (maybe OE?).

I need y’all to amp me up. I’ve had a kick ass year with a handful of awesome accomplishments. I am expecting a promotion in April and have never negotiated a raise. I’ve been with Weber for quite some time so I know I’m underpaid, but I also really love my role so I’m not looking to move right now (I also just had a baby and I don’t think my mental health could take another massive change!). I don’t expect to catch up, but negotiating extra will show I respect myself! Pump me up please! 🙌🙌🙌

I think it’s time to move on. I was recently offered a promotion bc “I’m doing so well and work hard and have a great skill set” but currently being at a director level I don’t even make 100k and with the new promotion into operations I still won’t break 100k. Also I was advised to complete a project before asking for a raise to really show my value… feeling let down
