More context: Goal is long term wealth / security. Just found out mine and my partners parents both aren’t in great retirement situations (not horrible but like just enough to retire quite conservatively). We may buy a house but not for a few years and can use cash flow from job to save. No debt.
Do you have Roth IRA and HSA? If not fund those. Then put the rest in a brokerage account in VTI or ITOT and IXUS or VXUS. This assumes you don’t need the money soon
Should have said: can’t do Roth IRA bc of income level. Not allowed to do hsa at work. I max out retirement though (Roth 401k, mega backdoor, and then employer contribution gets me to the annual max)
That's my assumption just because of how much money you have, which would make traditional the obvious choice. Also you already have plenty of Roth investments if you're maxing the megabackdoor. So even if you're afraid of rising tax rates or something, you have a huge hedge there.
Agree would do backdoor Roth assuming you don’t have a traditional IRA currently.
