WYR? Work on a prestigious brand but don’t make anything. Ever. With an up and coming agency that could be something cool some day? Or an agency where you make ALOT and have the opportunity to work on a lot of different brands but have to spend a year working on one terrible client with no work life balance?

If you’re young do the 2nd as it’ll give you more options and money.

Hmm. In my experience, you have to do the last option before you can really get opportunities at either of the first two. But I think i’d pick the middle one, at this point in my career.

We have a couple senior associates working a reduced schedule (managing a work-family balance, etc.). These senior associates are excellent, and I want to see them become partners (more diversity in the partnership, great lawyers in the partnership, etc.). The barriers would be shared overhead, buy-in, shared bonuses, etc. Has your firm done anything to make partnership more accessible for excellent attorneys working less hours?

Came across a job opportunity at a real estate lit firm, landlord tenant issues primarily. I am very happy with my current ID firm aside from pay, but I’m up for my first raise in March. I get interesting cases and most of the partners I work with are great. This new position would be a $25k salary increase (maybe more) and I have heard work life balance there is great. My current billables are 2000 which I don’t love. Any thoughts?

Thoughts on this? Hired for a week of freelance, we kill it, client loves our work, then...they cut week short by a day. Isn’t that bad form? We could have worked someplace else for the full week.

Hi! I’m moving to LA from Chicago, base 90k - no debt. I live in a 1BD rn and have been browsing the market in LA to get an idea of rent. I’m mainly looking west of DTLA (ktown, la brea, pico rob, etc)it’s seeming like a 1BD may be out of reach. I’m not looking to pay more than $1800/mo. Any suggestions on neighborhoods I should consider? I’d like to be near grocery, restaurants, and would need parking. I enjoy being outdoors and would look to go on hikes/runs in my free time if that helps. TIA!

New female Executive Director at our office (15-person shop) likes to call the staff “hun” or “dear” and occasionally “babe.” Makes me feel so uncomfortable & unprofessional. Is it me? What can I say?
