Y’all ever have days where you would not even care if you were fired? In fact, you might welcome it? 😅 At least tomorrow is Friday - we got this!

Literally every day! I think i would probably not actually like being fired, but it sure feels like that would be a good thing

like

I don’t think I’ve got this

like

Yeah I curse the day “you got this” was coined. Most people don’t got this whenever they say it…and I hate pretending.

like

I'm a second year wondering how much longer I can last

like

I’m only a 3rd year! At my second firm.

like

Every day at this point 🤣 nothing I’d want more than a forced funemployment

like

Yes. But because I don’t give a shit about my job, I am fine setting boundaries.

Today has been a shitshow. Major filing deadline, a bunch of our ancillary docs were still being revised an hour before things needed to go out the door, technical problems meant we had to revert to unedited prior versions of some docs at the last second, and Oh! The court is requiring same-day courtesy copies again.

And I now have an ex parte hearing tomorrow morning. We’re opposing and I haven’t even started the draft yet.

At least if I get fired I get to sleep.

like

Yes sleep. And a chance to feel human

All - please feel free to vent here.

Got called by a client’s personal counsel on a matter she knew nothing about. She started by reciting the “facts,” according to her. Then chastised me about how it should have been done. All while our client was on the line. I’ve never been a part of something so unprofessional. I’m still in shock.

like

Oh I didn’t hold back, which may have made it worse but I didn’t want that false narrative floating around.

like

Yes. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I wouldn’t care if fired, but we are crazy understaffed and busy. Hard to keep up with hours when you never stop working.

like

Help 😂🥴😬

like

Omg please take me out. Someone fire me.

Please show this to your boss as proof.

I was very successful as an internaional sales exec at a startup for 15 years before we were bought by a large publicly traded company. The culture shift was dramatic, as was the way that I was expected to work. I was laid off a tortuous 3 years after the buyout.

While I was in some ways relieved (put me out of my misery!) I spiralled pretty hard and after a while started working PT jobs, gig type stuff, etc. while I figured things out, and healed from burnout.

As layoffs start ramping up. I’m getting pretty worried. Should I start trying to find a more recession proof industry to work in-house at (currently at an agency). Or should I double down on my efforts to look great at my agency so I’m less likely to get fired?

I'm a solo bringing in Associate to become partner. Associate has been compensated with a base salary, plus 1/3 of earnings for business he brings in. Firm expenses are around 55-60% of gross revenue. He brings in around 30% of revenue. How best can I bring him in, and at what percentage to be fair? Was thinking 20%, with 5% incremental increases as his business grows hopefully to greater than 30% of total revenue. Thoughts?

Am I making enough profit for my firm?

I became a 2 year lawyer in September. I started working at my firm, a mid-sized firm practicing commercial business litigation and PI, in March of 2020. Last year I made the firm $180k from my billable hours and I was paid $85k + full health and other benefits.

This year, I'm on track to make about $150k and to make the firm about $450k from my billable hours and PI cases that I originated and settled.

Trying to do right for my firm. I'm treated well.
