Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!
I get judged if I go into my home office after hours

I heard Accenture pays more than McKinsey
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?

akakdjdjkala OP asked for a chair under $100 and everyone out here giving suggestions for exercise and expensive ass chairs well out of their requested price range, true consultants 🤦🏻♀️ OP try FB marketplace for chairs - i got a chair that originally costs ~$600 for $120, ive also heard good things about staples or costco + they have good warranty/return policies
Get a chair ASAP and start doing back exercises twice a day before it becomes chronic
OP in the past staples had good chairs for around 150. I also end up putting a thin cushion for lower back support
You get what you put in. A cheap chair gets you cheap results. Period.
That being said, discipline is probably the next most important factor so set a timer to remind yourself to improve your posture.
Honestly I had doubts but it turned out to be super comfy. Note - I’m not a gamer. Just the design is so beautiful.
I noticed I stopped having back issues when I started mixing it up between sitting and standing while working. This may help.

Second this.
If you ask a chiropractor, spine specialist MD or personal trainer - they will all tell you that standing up frequently, going on walking breaks, yoga, and doing 5 min planks every hour you’re sitting will do 100% more than just a chair.
This 75 dollar chair from costco is bomb
Ikea Markus is actually a decent cheap chair
I had it for 5 years, it was great. Just thag back then I couldn’t adjust the arm rest
Might not be the chair--try a Purple Mattress Seat Cushion. Worked wonders for me.
Go out for long walks and start running with proper form to release the tension.
Get whatever chair you want but get a lumbar support pillow to put on the chair

You use your chair several hours a day - and likely will for several more months. You don’t need to drop a grand on one, but don’t be needlessly cheap.
I have a gaming chair - don’t remember the brand, sorry - and paid less than $250. Maybe less than $200. It’s a good option that works well and I’m a bit on big size. Been using it daily for six months and don’t have issue despite being a far, lazy slob.
Look at Amazon or Frys for options. This is one of those times where value is more important than cost.
I have some lower back pain as well. I got a standing desk and that has helped a lot as well.
Also, get a better chair, that will help as well.
Pay more than $100 for the chair. You use it every single day
I have the LÅNGFJÄLL conference chair from Ikea and it’s improved my posture. It will only cost you $129
I bought a back brace and a standing desk and a used herman miller aeron. Worth every penny. your body is worth investing in. you only get one.
Get a standing desk riser from Flexispot. I take most of my meetings while standing up. Can’t master standing while typing real work though.
I had a similar problem using a $40 basic office chair. Upgraded to Bestoffice gaming chair at $120 from Amazon and it's as good as needs be to sit for 14 hours a day. Still wish I sat less, but no active pain and I'd say good balance of bargain and effectiveness
I actually bought a gadget that lifts your laptop so that I can stand. Solved a big part of my back problem. Problem with wfh is we don’t even get up to walk to meeting rooms so the compression on our spine is really bad. It’s not a perfect standing desk (you could look into that but I really like my desk and wasn’t going to throw it out) but I make an effort to set it up for zoom calls when I can walk around in my office a bit
