Started working in October at a top firm and quickly realized I do nottt want to be a lawyer, except now I have $255k of debt. Any alternatives here? I am losing my mind from either boredom or stress at all times and have no motivation or hope.

I am lateraling. My start date is Sept. 7. I was planning on giving my current firm notice on Aug. 2 so my last day would be Aug. 13 and I would have a few weeks off before starting the new gig. Was just perusing the employee handbook of my current firm and found that the separation policy requires at least 4 weeks’ notice. I’ve never heard of this before, and I’m at a loss as to what I should do. I don’t want to lose the time off but don’t want to lose benefits for Aug. either.

The people who recently seem to be incessantly saying they are "proud of Joe Biden as our leader" sound more cultish than anything MAGA. The facts just don't add up. Our current administration is a disaster. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are a disaster. Whataboutisms or ignorance wont change that. Trying to use emotional social issues as a mechanism to make people outraged isn't going to work anymore after what the country is enduring - economically most notably - with the current administration.

I recently changed my employer with decent salary increment and a title bump(Manager). Unfortunately I am stuck with Manager who is really rude, micromanages and when asked for help shows authority. I am on H1B. Worked in TCS for 11 yrs (7 yrs onsite).
During great resignation I made my first switch. I was all set to join Infosys then got PwC offer letter 2 days before my LWD in TCS. Had to join Infy as H1 transfer was done.
Now leaving Infosys in 4 months and joining PwC after H1 transfer. It was a tough call but finally I decided to join Big 4.
Again already gave notice to Infosys, all set to join PwC and now Amazon is approaching me for a Oracle apps functional consultant role. Advise ?

Quarantine may result in me losing my job, but not for the same reasons as many other associates. Moved across the country and started a new job the day after stay-at-home orders hit. Most people were already out of town and low on communication. I clapped back and it took all my senses to not drag him. 🤡

I unfortunately got laid off from my job in the Payments sector. I received a severance package. Has anyone here ever negotiated their severance? I’ve been told it may be a good idea to hire an employment lawyer but I don’t see the value in doing that unless the monetary amount increases exponentially.
