For those who left big 4 to join a startup, are the hours still crazy? (60+) I’m on the fence leaving my b4 tax job (70k) to join a startup (100k+). Would be a jump from TCII to Senior Accountant. Seems like finance team is very small, 10 people or so. Also company is only 6 months old but has ~50mm in funding. Any insight is appreciated!

I have received two offers for Summer Internships. West Monroe Partners Software Engineer and Deloitte Software Engineer. I'm not sure which one will be better for my career. Will Deloitte allow better future opportunities because of its brand name? Or, will the fact that WMP is a technology-focused consulting firm look better for getting future SWE jobs?

I work at a small firm with not that many workable templates so I usually have to do everything from scratch like drafting motions, pleadings, and researching all potential counts every time. Do bigger firms have better and more templates that allow you to have to do less research?

I have my first solo hearing in front of opposing counsel and the Judge, were asking for a fee multiplier on a contingency case. This is in Florida BTW. Any tips or advice for my first hearing will be greatly appreciated.

1st year associate here trying my first civil case to a jury in state court at the end of the month (second chair). Any tips, articles, books etc. that would be helpful in preparing would be much appreciated! (And please don’t just recommended reading the evidence rules, that’s the only tip the partner on the case with me has provided so far lol)

Those in L&E at small to mid size firms, how is your WLB?

Looking for tips on discovery software. Some of our cases warrant the cost of relativity or catalyst, but many don’t. How do you get emails and text messages from clients? I’m pretty tech savvy, but text screenshots and pdf’s of emails with separate pdf attachments just feels inefficient. There has to be a cost effective option out there.

I just found out that an associate (same experience level) who billed fewer hours than me and had less collections got a 10k raise while I only got a 2.5K raise. She is in a different office, and her supervising partner is incredibly nice and understanding. My supervising partner is a total dick to everyone (not just me) and I got shafted. He obviously didn’t speak up for me at review. I feel like this is totally unfair and like I got overlooked. What do I do?

Has any of you ever left your firm to join the opposing firm of a case that you’re working on? How did your old firm react when they heard the news?
