2015 grad in a mid sized law firm. Considered a rising star. Rumors that equity partners will be breaking a class rule precedent to elevate me next year. Lately just not feeling happy. Overworked. Don’t get to see my kid ever. A client has reached out for the third time trying to hire me. Boss is extremely difficult. Googled a bunch on pros and cons of going in house. I am also not making big law salary so financials are less impacted than for the “usual” candidate. Advice?

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Accepted an offer to join a small mom and pop firm (~50 ppl) there’s ex big 4 there, I’ll be running implementations as a Director. At a tier 2 firm now (going on 4 years) only a small pay bump but better title. TC could be much higher as they claim to pay a high bonus. Don’t start until end of July, and haven’t yet put in my two weeks. Sort of regretting the decision to leave. Feels like this would prevent me from getting to big 4, MBB or similar sized firm later down the road. Thoughts?

I wanted to apply for credit cards to get bonus points. My credit scores are 799 with equifax and 798 with TransUnion. Have 4 hard inquiries still on the record. My application for the amazon credit card got declined last March when my score was a bit lower and got ~6 hard inquiries. Personally I think it sucks that we won't find out if the credit card application is accepted or declined until the credit is hard pulled. Is there a more reliable way to be sure of the application being accepted?
Does transferring into M&A effectively “reset” your career/promotion progress? Eg. if you’re a 2nd/3rd year Senior prior to transfer, would you spend 3 more years as a senior in M&A?

Does anyone have suggestions on approaching a raise when your company uses ‘black box’ HR formulas/bell curve distributions? Went in-house straight out of law school at a Fortune 50. Have worked for 5 years and am eligible for a promotion. I don’t want to just get what the HR system spits out, and want to be proactive with management to influence a higher raise (15-20%+) based on my performance and the current market.
