All I had to read was Wells Fargo. Working for them as well as giving them my money to store is a no no. There is always something with them.

Maybe this guy can tell us what is so funny? I honestly do not understand racism whether it’s because of never been exposed to certain people, or stupidity… This person sounds to be educated to enough so what is so funny? Please enlighten me!

Something really odd happened last year. I was held for a project at Wells Fargo. My firm really wanted me on it. They were staffing 10+ people and submitted my bio. I was a show-in for the project.

I am South Asian and was told at the last minute I was left off by the client. This sounded odd because I had been pulled off something else for this role. My picture was on the bio.

I moved on to a different project because I know Wells is a bit weird. I am NY based and get racist vibes from a bunch of non-NY banks.

SPM1: I’m really not being dismissive, perhaps sarcastic, but I don’t 100% understand where you’re going with this. Maybe there’s room for growth here, i.e. thinking about alternative viewpoints when reading comments vs. assuming racism was the only reason somebody isn’t added to a consulting team.

Also, can you please explain what it means in your words “to remind more than open minded and not dismiss what others are experiencing!”

It says "Joe Bruno was fired from his job as an executive at Wells Fargo’s Jacksonville corporate office after he complained about the sham interviews, according to a report." And I bet you right now Wells Fargo is probably blasting that song to its employees (we don't talk about bruno nonono) #Encanto
This is really bad.. not surprised , and I'm sure it happens at other banks too . The Old boy network....

C1, so why is the OP’s post funny to you?

Simple question.

I’m just trying to understand, is the article not saying that Wells Fargo went to market to interview candidates, they found presumably an ideal candidate who was not a BAME individual however due to not wanting to land in hot water with government regulators felt they had no choice but to keep holding sham interviews to fulfil this government made quota?

I am a Black guy so just trying to understand whether someone at Wells Fargo was being racist in their hiring practices or were restricted by the government regulators and required to continue interviewing even though they already found their ideal candidate?

I just don’t want to live in a world where there are actually people hiring going “oh no we don’t want him because he’s Black” so just trying to understand what the article actually is saying.

MCK1: First and foremost I did not point at one country in particular, as far as I’m aware Africa is not one country and Nigeria is not Africa!
It is find to be proud of how a country is becoming but it doesn’t mean that you should be blindsided!
Colonialisme, slave Atlantic trade still has impacts on these countries and descendants.
Like MKC said Colonialisme did leave a lot of impacts on many countries and this is not only due like you pretend to corruption!
Moreover, the corruption you are referring where do you think it is originated?
Now Nigeria is still a part of the commonwealth isn’t it? Isn’t it way made by British to milk others including Nigeria? That is just an example..

Sadly said Racial bias is almost in every aspect of life professionally or socially here in America - it's very wrong and to change it it will take a village: it starts with education: what are we educating our kids in schools or at home?
I personally choose to be a victor not a victim.. have I been discriminated against before with my prior employers - phone screenings - interviews - & PAY or even at the grocery store or the gas station? I stopped counting... I live in the south, BUT I choose to believe that not everyone is bad, & people can change to the better. There are good kind hearted people out there from all corners of the world....that's the part I focus on! When life throws bricks at me I build bridges not walls, or towers - it all starts with communication & education. As for some that think this is funny or petty- it's NOT , try a day in the life of a minority person - oh wait you can't , just keep laughing & while you're laughing , I'm developing me, and people around me regardless of race or gender, & most importantly learning from others & growing with everyone. Equal , fair access to anything will never exist because we are all biologically unique, our DNA is one of a kind and because of that I learnt to embrace ALL ADVERSITY, BRING IT ON BABY! I will keep building bridges ONE BRICK at a time & educating ONE PRICK at a time along the process... and to everyone else that felt discriminated in any way and fell down : Pain is temporary, recycle it & #RISEUP cuz life is good only if you want it to be! If it was easy, everybody would make it! Work together, empower each other and make it happen! If you want something in life, you have to be relentless! #LTFGO

What’s the “ethical route”? Not trying to disagree I’m just asking exactly what recruiters should be doing

My company started returning to work about 2 months ago. Some employees have been allowed to work from home or even remotely from another state. Others are required to be in the office. This is mostly due to the company wanting someone from each department to physically be in the office, not out of necessity. But it’s mostly decided on position — the higher ranking employees get to choose their preference, and anyone under has to suffer the consequences. Are there any rules/laws against this?
