Yesterday a recruiter for a big media company reached out via LinkedIn about a role he was trying to fill. The role aligned with my background and honestly, I felt great that finally I was being poached. We set up a time and I sent my resume.... then this morning he cancels and blames that the position is being “put on hold”. How likely is this actually the reason/does this happen often?

Hi Fishes, I recently made a switch and my ctc jumped from 13.5 lpa to 38 lpa.I have moved to a prdct based compny,they have given the ctc I have asked for and on top of it additional joining bonus of 6 lks & rsu.I was very happy with it because I got little more than I have asked and I didn't try anything else even though I had 50 days of notice period left. But now when I see other posts where people with lesser yoe is getting almost the same package I doubt if I settled for less

Please clarify for me. I say if the salary for the position is $52,000, that's what you include when posting the job opening. Ie: Marketing Assistant: $52K. My supervisor says no, the salary is actually 74,000, because she's including health benefits and PTO on top of the 52.. I said if you post 74,000 and the person finds out it's actually 52 (probably with a take home pay of only 38) they will walk. Who's right?

I'm a first yr attorney at an insurance firm and am in the process of interviewing for an in-house position at a tech company. The position is pretty much generalist, but I get the impression I'd be working mostly on SaaS and partnership transactions. I definitely think I would like the transactional work better, but I am concerned about the long-term earning potential vs. partnership. How common is it to eventually make $400k+ in-house/how difficult is it to transition back to a firm? Thanks!

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

What questions would you like to see asked or answered in a panel on burnout for in-house counsel?

Boss is gaslighting? Just experienced this for the first time - and would love to hear others’ experiences, too. For the past few years, my micromanager boss asked that I send them every draft of every contract to review, no matter how minor. In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!

Does anyone have any recommendations for software or other methods to track projects? I'm looking at the One Note to do and it seems helpful, but right now the volume of projects in expecting seems to be so large that I think something more advanced would be helpful. My GC also expects a weekly meeting to catch up on everything I'm working on, so obviously want to be prepared for those.

For Google, can you basically only get in with a reference? Should you write up a cover letter with your application? Its optional and my understanding is that companies don’t have time to read it anyway. Currently an lower level counsel at FAANG.
